-Grayson's Point of View-
I sit in the small bedroom and look through an old yearbook. It has pictures of girls I never knew and guys I was never friends with. Maybe if I had actually gone to school there or during that time I would know who they are, but I don't. Maybe because I'm not a certain Josh Lock.
I flip through the pages until I get to the one with his picture on it. I guess he was what girls would call attractive. He had a strong jaw line and lazy eyes. For some reason that is attractive. His picture is next to another Josh's, Josh Layernce. I think I knew a Layernce in College. Maybe a girl I slept with, maybe even one that I cheated on Taylor with. But I can't remember, I cheated on her so many times.
After about 10 minutes of rating random high school girls I stand up and stretch, I remember to be quiet so I don't wake up Josh's mom, who is asleep in the room right next to his. His room is small and covering in screamo band posters, which only makes it look smaller. There are piles of clothes on the floor and a couple empty bags, that reeks of pot. A smell I am fairly accustom to. There is a little bedside most of it is covered in a sticky purple liquid or used condom wrappers but underneath is a copy of The Da Vinci Code. Weird this kid, of all people, was reading a book. He seemed more like the type to listen to ear splitting music.
Then I hear a noise come from the hall way. It's a quiet noise that normally I wouldn't hear, but my whole body is so tense that everything is setting me off. I inch towards the door and look around the edge, just above the door handle. A really hot girl with short, blond hair stands in front of me. She turns and her face is tear stained and red. She starts walking towards the door, but I just stand there. I should really move out of the way and head to the window, but all I can do is back up a few feet to the bed and sit there.
She steps in and takes a deep breath then turns on the light, her eyes move towards me and she jumps in fright picking up a shoe that lays on the floor next to her, "Who the hell are you?" She scream-whispers.
"Grayson. Grayson Andrews," I say as I stand up and walk towards her, "Please put the shoe down."
"No! Don't come near me!" She says backing up, hitting her back against one of the walls.
"I'm sorry, please I don't want to hurt you!" I say and show her that my pockets are empty, then I put my hands in the air.
She hesitates then lowers the shoe, her shoulders dropping as she becomes less tense, "Why are you here? How did you get in here?"
"I wanted to learn more about Josh and the window." I say looking back at her, I am not going to lie to her, that wouldn't help my situation at all.
'Why would you want to know more about Jo- him?" She asks and looks at me with curious, bloodshot, eyes.
Then I hesitated, I could tell her everything that happened and explain that I had killed the wrong person or I could make some lie up about being friends with his patrol officer, "OK I'll tell you but you have to promise not to freak out."
"Fine." She says as she crosses her arms and looks at me with bored eyes.
I take a deep breath and start my story, "I am in a gang with Martin Pember ,the drug lord, I was supposed to kill this guy for him so I could be free of this debt I owe him, but instead I killed Josh. It was an accident, I'm really sorry. I want to make it up to you."
She stares at me in disbelief, "No, you couldn't have, that's not possible." For some reason she just doesn't want to believe me at all.
"I did," I say looking at her and taking a step towards her, "Please just let me explain!"
"NO! Don't come any closer!" She said as she grabbed the door handle to leave, but I was too fast for her, I grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards me. She started to scream so I put a hand over her mouth. Then she starts to kick me, I pick her up and carry her over to the window, I push her through then jump down as she starts to run away.
I grab her by the waist and pull her over to my car, throwing her into the back seat. She is still screaming and swearing at me as I drive away.
Thought run through my head as I realize what I have done. I kidnapped the sister of the boy I killed. This will not end well for me.
We keep driving until we come to a motel on the side of the road. It looks rundown and kind of worthless so I stop. She's asleep in the back of the seat so I pick her up with one hand on my back the other under her knees and walk inside. I get the key for one of the rooms and step inside, taking off her shoes I lay her down on one of the dusty beds. Then I sit down on the other and the bed creaks.
I lay back and think through what my options are now. And more importantly, will Taylor tell Jake about Josh and who really killed him.
