Jason stepped off the bus and into the bitter night. Stella sat in his hand, though he could tell she felt uncomfortable in the open. If only his uniform had pockets.
“So… can I know why you tried to escape?” He asked, breaking the silence.
“I wasn't trying to escape.” Stella scoffed. “I just didn't want to be in the room while you too were about to have sex.”
Jason’s face turned red. “Shit, sorry. It was the heat of the moment, you know.”
Stella smiled and rolled her eyes. “Just don't do that again, please.”
Jason smiled back. Was Stella actually smiling? She looked nice when she smiled.
“Also sorry for almost ruining your relationship.” She added.
“Don't worry about it!” He reassured. “I'm just sorry you got forced into meeting other people when you didn't want to.”
“It wasn't as bad as I initially thought.” Stella admitted. “It was actually nice.”
Jason’s eyes widened. “Really?”
“Yeah, most of them seem nice.”
Jason raised an eyebrow. “Most?”
“Well…. You said Clair was nice?” She asked, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly.
“She is, but you unfortunately met her when she was in a bad mood.” Jason sighed. “She's one of the most loving people I have ever met.”
“Well hopefully, I can see that side of her next time.” Stella said.
Jason stopped walking in shock. Did Stella just offer to hang out with another giant? “You want to hang out with giants again?”
Stella shrugged. “I mean, I wouldn't mind going back there again. Seems like a nice family.”
Jason couldn't believe this. It took him weeks for him to even get Stella to mildly tolerate him, but she spends one day with Clair’s family and she’s totally fine with going back there. Was this even the same Stella he met?
“Sure, let's go back tomorrow!”
The bitter winds blew past them, reminding them that they should probably get inside soon. Stella shivered. Her long sleeve shirt wasn't even to keep her warm
Jason moved Stella closer to his chest and used his other hand in front of her to block her from the winds. “Let's get you out of the cold.”
She smiled. “Thanks.”
Jason nodded and began walking back home, with a new person in his hands.
