Chapter Three

Alexander POV

Herc was definitely into him.

And Lafayette was into him too.

Seriously, having two gay guys in an apartment was fun!

We were expecting another roommate that day, so I stayed behind to greet them.

After what seems like hours, I hear a knock at the door.

I get up and open the door, a freckled face greeting me with an enthusiastic smile.

"Hi, I'm John Laurens! I'm your new roommate. Is it just us two in this dorm? I thought I requested four people. But I'm cool with whatever."

"Oh, h-hi m-my name is Hamilton Alexander," I pause for a moment, "Alexander Hamilton. There's a million things I haven't done, and you're one--" I stop myself before I send another epic fail out of my mouth.

Luckily, he laughs, so I don't make a complete fool of myself.

"Funny, it's usually me who flubs the greeting." He mutters something under his breath.

"But it's a pleasure to meet you! Where am I staying?"

"Blurf." Smooth, Alex.

"What?"

"My room," I say as I point to my bedroom on the left.

"Cool. I'll just unpack if that's okay?"

"Totally fine. Make yourself at home," I say as he walks off.

I flop onto the couch, wondering what the heck is wrong with me.

I'm normally pretty smooth. The only other time I talked like that was when I first talked to my girlfriend Eliza. So it was the same thing with John.

I have incredibly bad anxiety when it comes to first meeting people.

I get this way sometimes, but it's not normally this bad.

"Alexander?" (I have to leave)

I jump.

"Call me Alex. What's up?"

"If you don't mind me asking, where are the other roommates?"

I smile mischievously.

"Oh, them? They're on a date right now."

"Oh, nice. When do you suppose they'll be back?"

"Depends. They could be back in five hours or five minutes for all I know."

He nods. "I've had to share a dorm with some people that were dating. I get you."

"Yeah, but they're not bad, don't get me wrong."

He nods again.

"Hey, Alex?"

"Yeah?"

"If you, um, don't mind me asking, are you, um, dating anyone?"

I hesitate, debating whether or not I should tell him.

"It'sfineifyoudon'twannasayI'msorryI'mhorrible"

"No, no it's fine. I'm dating this girl named Eliza."

"Oh," he says, "That's cool."

"What about you? Are you dating anyone?"

"Nah, I'm single. Guess I'll be the only available guy here then," He smiles. "I need to go to the bathroom real quick."

"First door on the right," I say helpfully.
