The Champions

Halloween came like a blink of an eye. Jungkook and Jihoon met Somi at the Great Hall for breakfast, and everyone was strangely early that morning. Students were muttering bets on who would the Goblet pick as the Hogwarts champion; some boys were only bragging about how they peed in the same bathroom as Jackson Wang.

The students of Beauxbatons ate their breakfast at the Hufflepuff table, while those from Durmstrang joined the Slytherins. Hagrid was talking animatedly with Madame Maxime of Beauxbatons. Jungkook scanned the Ravenclaw table, in hopes of finding his crush, Lee Jieun.

"What are you waiting for, aren't you going to eat?" Jihoon asked.

Jungkook turned and saw Jihoon already with his plate full of ham, toast, sunny side up's, and strawberries. He proceeded to fill his own plate with only a slice of ham and piece of waffle.

"That's not like you. Are you feeling nervous?" Somi asked, noticing that Jungkook's appetite seemed to be smaller than usual.

"No, it's not like that," Jungkook denied. "Let's not expect anything there."

Jihoon turned his head to check the Slytherin table for any suspicious facial expression, particularly on Lee Taeyong. Unfortunately, the boy was facing away from them, so he dropped it and went back to eating.

"Oh," Somi gasped, looking at the entrance of the Great Hall.

"What?" Jungkook asked and turned his head to the direction where Somi was looking at.

"Nothing!" Somi said a bit loudly, causing other Gryffindors to look at her, too. "Just... just remembered something! Homework. Yes."

"You alright? You never forget homework," Jihoon asked.

Somi uttered an awkward laugh. "Of course, I am alright. Ha-ha."

After everyone has had their stomachs full and palates cleansed, the food on the table vanished and the Headmistress stood up to make an announcement.

"Good morning, everyone. As you all know, the Goblet will pick the champions for Triwizard Tournament today. There will be one for Beauxbatons, one for Durmstrang, and finally, one for Hogwarts. Once your name is called, please proceed immediately to the chamber at the back of this hall. And remember, that once you are chosen, you are bound to a magical contract with the Goblet, meaning you cannot back out. I hope everyone who has dropped their name into the Goblet are serious and are aware of the difficulty and dangers of the tasks you will face."

The Great Hall turned completely silent and Jihoon gulped, as if he was one of the students who dropped their name. Lee Taeyong glared at the Goblet which didn't go unnoticed by Jungkook. He nudged Somi to see him for herself and she furrowed her eyebrows. Jihoon noticed it as well.

"Do you think he's doing it? Confunding the Goblet non-verbally?" Jihoon whispered.

"He better not," Somi mumbled.

"Doesn't look like he's concentrating very well," Jungkook said.

The Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation and Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry of Magic joined McGonagall at the staff area. The Headmistress waved her wand and the torches on the walls and the candle lights floating in the ceiling all extinguished, leaving the Goblet to be the only source of light in the Great Hall, beaming in sapphire blue.

McGonagall touched the Goblet and walked slowly backwards, her eyes not wavering from it. Suddenly, its flames turned red, then turned back to blue in a second. A piece of parchment sprung up from the flames, and McGonagall caught it.
