"Mitch Connor? I don't think so. Who is he?" I ask.
"He's the leader of a very hostile survivor group that we used to be a part of. He was awful to us, worked us for almost twenty four hours every day until we were passing out whilst working," Wendyl shudders at the thought, "one day we just decided to escape and he was not happy. One of us died - Kyle's younger brother. It was awful. He... he promised he'd come after us... after me."
"Why after you?"
"Because we are - we were - dating. But I wasn't happy and when we escaped he swore he would kill me in front of all of my friends and then kill them."
"Jesus Christ. He sounds awful."
"The thing was... he wasn't. Before he was elected leader he was wonderful."
I rub Wendyl's shoulder comfortingly and he throws his arms around me in a tight hug. I'm taken aback at first, but I relax into it. This is the best hug I've had in a long time.
"Hey, I hate to break up.... whatever this is, but we've got a situation inside." Kyle interrupts us from the doorway.
Wendyl pulls away from me and wipes a tear away with his sleeve. He gives me a small smile as a thank-you.
"Sorry, Ky," Wendyl walks over and kisses his cheek. They're together? "We were just having a look at the hole. Craig thinks someone did it deliberately."
"Whoa. Seriously?" Kyle raises his eyebrows in shock, "you don't think it could be..?"
Wendyl nods.
"Shit, man," Kyle sighs, "I thought we were safe here. I guess not... but we need you, Wend, there's a Feral in there."
"I'm on it. Come on, guys."
We follow Kyle to the furthest room on the ground floor, where a Feral is being detained in one of the holding cells.
It really wants to escape and is repeatedly throwing itself at the metal bars, which are bent from the action. It's snarling menacingly at Stan, Butters and Kenny, who are stood watching it, making sure it doesn't escape.
"Finally, you're here!" Butters smiles nervously, "have you got your taser, Wendyl?"
"I always carry it with me, don't worry." Wendyl pulls the taser out of his back pocket and grins.
"How is a taser going to help? The thing's dead." I frown.
Wendyl doesn't respond. He looks me right in the eyes as he presses the taser to the Feral's skull as it goes to throw itself at the bars again.
It convulses uncontrollably, screeching in pain and anger. A horrible smell of burning fills the air as it drops to the floor, finally dead.
"This bad boy is the only thing that can take one of these things out without wasting a bunch of bullets. It fries the brain and basically kills it for a second time," Wendyl explains, "your sister helped me fix it since I accidentally broke it last time I used it. She's pretty good at mending and making weapons. If you guys decide to stay I'd love to have her work with me in the workshop."
"Wow, that's pretty cool. Uh, maybe? I mean, I don't know if we're staying so..." I trail off.
Wendyl laughs.
"Yeah, I get what you mean. I'll talk to Tweek for you, I'm sure he'd love to have you on the team!" He pats my shoulder, "he'll be in his office. I'll go find him."
Butters suddenly gasps.
"I forgot all about your friend! We should go and get him," He tells me, "I know you've been following people around all day but can you follow me to go and get him?"
"Sure." I shrug.
Butters leads me to a room that's in Tweek's area of the building. There's a room labelled "library" by a large painted sign beside the doors which we enter.
I don't see Clyde anywhere.
Butters feels the books along the bookshelves until his fingers rest upon a copy of 'Hamilton: The Revolution". He pulls it and the bookshelf swings open to reveal a hidden room.
"This was a panic room for less experienced staff back when this was a police station. We still use it." Butters explains.
He walks through the hole and beckons for me to follow him. I cautiously walk behind him, feeling suddenly uneasy.
There's a round door with a passcode box thing.
Butters inputs the code - 6 9 4 2 0 - and the door swings open to reveal Jimmy, Kevin and Clyde. They're sat on beanbags (with the exception of Jimmy who is sat on a cushioned stool) and playing a game of go-fish.
"Jimmy, any fives?" Kevin asks loudly. His hearing must still be funny. Jimmy hands him three fives and Kevin grins, setting all four of the cards onto the floor, "another set for me!"
"Hey guys." I say, making them all jump in shock.
"Oh hey, Craig!" Clyde smiles, "is the situation sorted?"
"Yeah. You guys can come out now."
Clyde collects all of the cards and puts them back in the box. He returns the box to a small bookshelf that takes up the majority of the room since it's only a small space. There's only three or four books on the bookshelf because of how small it is.
Kevin helps Jimmy to his feet and they all follow us out of the safe room into the main library.
The walkie-talkie on Butters' body warmer starts crackling as someone tries to contact him. He removes it from his chest and holds it to his mouth.
"Can you repeat that?" He asks.
"Bring Craig to my office. We need to discuss something important, over." The voice on the other end, who I'm assuming is Tweek, requests.
"Wilco. Over and out," Butters returns the walkie-talkie to his chest, "okay craig. Let's go!"
Before we leave, Butters makes sure that my friends will be fine on their own in the library. When everyone is satisfied with where they are, Butters leads me to an elevator shaft that has no doors.
He presses the elevator button and it slowly rises from the ground floor to the first floor, which is the floor we're currently on.
We step inside and he presses the button for the second floor. The elevator slowly judders as it rises to the floor above us.
"The stairs would be a lot quicker." I state.
"It would, but the elevator is the only way to reach Tweek's office. When we first moved here part of the floor collapsed so you can only access part of the floor with the elevator."
I nod in understanding.
We wait for the elevator to stop but it feels like it takes an eternity to finally reach the second floor. When it does eventually stop, I see the damage Butters was talking about.
Around five meters from the elevator is a massive hole where the floor collapsed. One of the office doors is still open from the last time it was used, but there is no possible way to shut it.
The hole is much bigger than the one in the fence. It's big enough for me to be worried about the rest collapsing, but I try to push my fear out of the way.
Butters takes me to the first door in the hallway which has a hand-painted sign reading "Tweek's Office. Only enter if emergency."
He does a weird knock which is like knock knock pause knock knock pause knock.
"Come in!"
Butters pushes the door open and gestures for me to enter before him. I cautiously step into Tweek's office and the door slams behind me.
