"Craig. We have a l-lot to discuss."
Tweek's office is quite small. It's more of a broom closet, if I'm honest.
He doesn't even have a desk. It's a small folding table that can barely fit a pencil pot and a sheet of paper, the kind you'd get in an exam hall.
The chair is a crappy plastic one that my school had in the cafeteria and his window is tiny and barely lets any light through.I stand uncomfortably against the wall since there's not really any other place to stand.
"So, first of all I want to thank you," Tweek starts, sounding a little awkward, "f-for saving my ass back there. I'm not good with people, if I'm honest. I'm rude and stuff because I've always been a social outcast and n-never had friends of my own."
"Did you really bring me here to talk about your backstory?"
"No. I want you t-to join us," He smiles, "I can see that you're the kind of person we need, your leadership skills are exemplary. Plus, your younger sister is incredible at what she does according to Wendyl. We could really use the both of you. There's just one problem..."
"And that is..?"
"Your friends. They're sort of... useless, if we're b-being honest," Tweek sighs and runs a hand through his already messy hair, "I really don't want to turn them away but we move around a lot. A deaf kid and a kid on crutches will be quite h-hard to work with."
I frown. This is not what I wanted to hear.
"So you want me to choose between food and shelter, and my best friends?"
Tweek nods.
"I know it's a difficult decision. T-talk it out with them, I'm sure they'll understand. This isn't the world we used to live in. It's harsh and cruel. They have to get used to that," He said with a slight shrug, "I'll even send them away with a bag of food cans if it'll help them. We've got m-more than enough."
I do love Jimmy, Clyde and Kevin, but this place is amazing. The people here are skilled at fighting unlike my friends, they have food, a large space with enough rooms for everyone. I wouldn't have to listen to Jimmy's insufferable snoring any longer.
They wouldn't even be too far away if they returned to the bungalow.
"I'll talk to them about it." I eventually tell Tweek.
He nods and waves me out of his office.
Butters is waiting for me when I leave, but I hope he wasn't eavesdropping."So, are you staying?" He asks me, hope filling his voice.
"I'm not sure. I need to talk with my friends about it," I reply as we wait for the elevator, "he doesn't want my friends here. Just me and Trish."
"Oh gee, that's going to be difficult," Butters frowns, "personally I'd say go with your friends, but it's your decision. Not mine."
The elevator finally reaches our floor and we step inside. It clangs worryingly loud as it takes us downstairs.
"It's a decision I don't want to make, that's what it is." I sigh, leaning against the elevator wall.
Butters places a hand on my shoulder. I look over at him, confused.
"Maybe you don't have to make the decision," he starts, "you don't have to be the leader of it's not what you want. Let someone else struggle for you."
The idea is one I've been thinking about for months. I've been wanting to take orders from someone instead of always being the one to give them.
But Tweek wants me because I'm a good leader. I can't stop now, it's too late."I can't," I sigh, "I don't want to let anyone down."
"But you're letting yourself down by not being happy."
I almost fall over as the elevator stops suddenly at the ground floor. Butters leads me back to the library where my friends are waiting.
They're building a fort out of anything they can find; books, chairs, tables, you name it.
"C-Craig, come into our fort!" Jimmy grins, beckoning me to crawl in.
"Guys, I need to talk to you. It's important."
They all stop messing around and look up at me, confused looks on their faces. Well, Jimmy and Clyde do whilst Kevin continues to try and shove a flower shaped cushion into a space that's too small.
Clyde opens the notebook I'm assuming they're using to communicate with Kevin and Jimmy hands him a pen.
"Tweek has given me the most difficult decision I've ever made to make," I begin, sitting on the floor at the opening of their fort, "and I really hope this doesn't change anything in our friendship."
"Sp-spit it out, d-dude." Jimmy nods at Clyde, who is doing his best to write everything that I'm saying so that Kevin can keep up.
"Tweek wants me and Tricia to stay, but not you guys."
Clyde drops his pen. His head snaps up to look at me, a confused expression covering his face.
"Are you serious?" He asks, voice wobbling as tears fill his eyes. He looks upwards and blinks quickly in an attempt to make them go away, "sorry, sorry. I just... didn't expect you to say that."
"I didn't expect to have to tell you that," I sigh, "I really don't want to leave you guys, but this place is great. I don't know what to do, and I know I should leave with you but..."
I trail off as Kevin places a hand on my knee.
"Remember what I told you two months ago?" He asks loudly. I shake my head and he rolls his eyes, "I told you that you should do what makes you happy and you shouldn't think about how we feel. These opportunities are hard to come across so you should jump at the chance to stay here."
"He's right," Clyde sighs, "you should stay here. We'll be fine back at the bungalow and we'll have the car if we need it."
"Tweek's going to give you some food as a sort of apology." I tell them.
Clyde wipes his eyes with his sleeve and gives a small smile.
"Craig, stay here. We're not made for fighting or surviving."
Jimmy waves a crutch for emphasis.
"Jimmy can't walk, Kevin can't hear, although it is coming back slowly, and I cry for every emotion. We won't survive with a group like this. We'll leave."
Butters' walkie-talkie crackles and makes us all jump. We forgot he was there.
"Could you repeat that?" He asks.
"Has Craig made his decision yet?" Tweek asks.
Butters looks at me for a response.
I take a deep breath.
"Tricia and I are going to stay here with you guys."
