Chapter 2:
Meetings

The class flew by with their stares meeting each other once in a while, and their cheeks completely painted in pink. They were a blushing mess when the bell rang and Mike ran out, his breathing uneven and rough. He was completely flustered and light headed, her fragrance still lingering in his lungs and the softness of her doe eyes was webbed in his head. She looked so beautiful, like anybody would have said. Yet, he knew that, ever since he laid eyes on her while growing up. Chief Hopper and her mother were the best of friends. So of course he knew the frail little girl she used to be to the goddess she grew up to be. Time passed and friendships faded, and over the years, their parents' friendship slowly tore apart. Meaning, theirs did too. They never really had a friendship anyways. But here they were again, their eyes still connected while their minds were wandering. Slowly, she looked away, as if she was almost uncertain. And hesitantly, he did too.

---

She looked at him from across the room, his curly hair sticking up from different directions. Her table was filled with pictures she and her two friends were trying to arrange. They were responsible for this years' dance. The snowball. It was this cheesy dance where people were asked to it and basically had fun.

"Okay so what if we arranged it like...this." her red head friend, Max asked. She had her red hair which was always never filled with any products. She was just naturally gorgeous. She had a sassy attitude but deep down had a heart as soft as the clouds. She was always caring, but is unsure on how to show it. She was incredibly loyal and was always there to make people laugh. Then there was Beverly. Like Max, she had bright red hair, but instead of long, unending hair, she had short hair that barely reached her ears, but she looked like a complete goddess. She was beautiful, and kind, but always had a sarcastic remark ready to use. Those two girls were basically her sisters, she grew up with them, meeting them when she was only three.

"Hello? Earth to Jane? HELLO?" Beverly snapped her fingers, breaking her out of her thoughts.

"Oh...uh yeah that sounds good." she said oblivious to the giggles the table erupted.

"We said what theme do you want the dance to be and you say...uh yeah that sounds good!" Beverly laughed while Max imitated her. Jane blushes scarlet and groaned.

"Who were you making googly eyes with anyways?" Max teased, looking the same direction Jane did earlier on. Her gleaming sapphire eyes soon widening once her gaze lands on the Michael Wheeler.

"Jane! You like Mike?" she gaped at her, gripping her arm.

"What? No! Ew! NO!" she protested earning an eye roll from Beverly's brilliant blue eyes.

"No way! You definitely like him! Remember our number one rule? Friends don't lie!" she smiled, her signature dazzling smile.

"Come on guys! I'm not lying. I just...haven't really interacted with him since we were like four. It was just...kinda weird...you know...after what happened..." she trailed off looking straight at the pale blue table. The girls locked eyes with each other and nodded understandingly. Max reaches over to caress the girl's hand.

"We get it Jane. But...you know that shouldn't stop you from liking him, or anyone. Even as just friends. Your guys' parents' made their own mistakes. It shouldn't affect you, or him." she and Beverly glances at Mike and his friends. She takes a shaky breath in and smile.

"You're right. Thanks guys." she looks at them with a surge of gratefulness.

"Of course! Now...lets go brainstorm!" Beverly punches the air making the three girls laugh and giggle merrily.
