Thanks to my heightened senses the place smelled so horrible I nearly gave my position away. The place smelled like dead wood and rotting animals. I know that doesn't make sense but it does. I kept walking slowly, then I heard shuffling. I thought about what I was gonna say but I wasn't sure that I can take who is whatever this is. I took a deep breath and called out to whoever was there. "This is private property! You can't be in here!" I heard something shuffle. I turned on my flashlight and pointed it towards the noise. "Dude, didn't you hear me? This is private property!" A flash of lightning lit up the barn for a moment blinding me when I heard the shuffling again.

There was nothing there

There was nothing there. As the light dimmed, the shuffling stopped. "I must be imagining things," I said to myself. "Probably raccoons or a stray cat or dog." I turned around and bumped into something hard. I landed on the ground with a thud. "Ow." It felt like tractor but the thing was my grandparents never owned a tractor. My grandfather's mother sold it for money to help with expenses. I sat there so still, my heart racing. What did I actually bump into? They don't even have a car in here! I slowly looked up and saw glowing yellow-green eyes. I backed up till my back hit one of the wooded holes. It stared at me and made a low rumbling sound. It sounded like a lion. The sound was deeper than any lion that I have heard my entire life. It stepped towards me, it was too dark for me to see but I could tell this thing was huge. I got up and ran for my life throwing the flashlight away to distract it. I heard it crash into something metal and the light illuminated where I was standing. I ran before it can see me, hopefully. It kept making growling noises like a pissed off elephant. I crouched by one of the hay bails and stayed as still as I could. I realized that I still had the poker. I heated it up again and tried not to set it on fire. When it got close I saw a snout. It had a rhino-like horn on the top of the muzzle and two of them on the side of its face. When it saw me sat so still thinking that it won't attack me if I did anything. It stared at me with its yellow-green eyes. I can see my reflection within them. It roared causing me to scream and swat it in the face. It backed up avoiding the slash attempt. Then I shoved it in what I thought was the shoulder blade but it bounced off making a metal ping sound. It roared and I swiped it make a small cut on its claw when it attempted to grab me. It kept roaring like a wild polar bear. "Gah!" It snarled. "How dare that-" I covered my mouth. Did it just talk?! I didn't know if it can see me now, but when it turned its back on me I made a run for it. I grabbed the door but it wouldn't open. "Not now! Please!" I cried. I kept banging it till I felt something around my waist pull me back into the bails. I saw a flash of lightning hit the front of the barn and made a huge light. I was nearly hit by lightning?! I looked to see what grabbed me and it was a metal chain. The one in my dream. I tried to remove it but my body began to ache. It huffed at me and I felt it take the chain off me. Everything was beginning to blur and the thing came to look at me while everything turned black. I heard it say something that sounded human. "Brave......stupid."
