Ophuichus's POV

Books have always been my friends. Whether it be a book of poetry or a history book. Books never forsake you. They're always there when you need them and they don't turn their back on you when you need them most. The best book would definitely be a book of power. But power is never so easy to come by. You have to sacrifice a lot for power, maybe even your own sanity.

I didn't have much to sacrifice. My sanity had been long gone and my riches were not of this world. If I were to offer something it would probably be my servitude although I doubt my current master would appreciate that. His plan must happen without a hitch and the first step is to find the children of those wretched gods. But where does one begin to look for troubled teens? An orphanage perhaps? No that would be too luxurious for them. Maybe under a rock. But that would be unsanitary for the rock. Maybe they don't exist and my mind is creating stories for me. Who's to say? But the children have to be found. Someone has to pay for what happened to me, for what happened to us, for what happened to my home.

Ashton's POV

"Strange. It suddenly got chilly." I glanced at the sky above me watching the sun shine brightly.

"What are you talking about? We're literally still frying eggs on the sidewalk right now. Or has this secret admirer of yours have your thoughts all messed up?" My friend Tracy smirked in my direction, doing the weird eyebrow thing. How does he do that?

"I swear if this is your idea of a joke I'll fry you on the sidewalk next. It's not funny to mess with people's feelings. It's alright to mess with that idiot over there but not with me." Tracy followed my glance to the only guy in school who literally had girls worshipping the very ground he walks on.

"Oh come on. You never know. At least enjoy that someone finally likes your weird ass for once. I swear Ashton you're gonna end up sad and lonely because of that attitude of yours." Tracy smirked at me again and I rolled my eyes.

"Drop dead." I got off of the ground and continued on my way to the school. "I'd rather be alone instead of having my life taken over by some random girl. It's difficult enough handling you as it is."

"Oh come on Ashton you love me. Tell you what since I'm gonna end up lonely in the future as well, let's vow to marry each other so both of our lineage live on." Tracy exclaimed almost too excited.

"Is this your way of confessing to me? Tracy you naughty girl." Her cheeks turned slightly red as she walked through the door I held open for her.

"What? Of course not. Who would want a guy like you?!" Tracy turned away quickly and hid her face slightly.

"You do. Or should I reconsider." I backed her up into a corner and leaned in close to her face. "Just say the word Tracy and all your fantasies will come true." I whispered watching her turn even redder.

We both began to lean in slowly to meet each other when a strong wind blew past us and Tracy slapped me.

"What the hell are you doing?! Someone help this man is trying to take advantage of me!" Tracy covered her head and dropped to her knees.

I stared confused as my best friend looked at me terrified as if I was a stranger she had never seen before.

"Tracy it's me Ashton. What's wrong?" I reached a hand out to help her but pulled it back when she screamed. "Tracy?"

"Sir you have until the count of three to back away from the student before I tase your ass." I looked behind me to see the school security guard pointing a taser gun at my back.

"Wait Mr. Ron it's me. Ashton. I don't know what's going on but we were just talking and she started screaming and I don't know what to do." Ron spoke into the radio on his shoulder then refocused on me.

"One."

"Huh? What's going on?"

"Two."

"Wait it's me Ashton."

"Three asshole! Taser! Taser!"

"No!" I couldn't move now or he would tase Tracy by mistake the only thing I can do now is relive my entire life in these few seconds I have to think about all of this.

I closed my eyes and felt the same wind as earlier and that was it. I opened my eyes to find the taser pads (Sorry but idk the name of you do I ask for your help please) centimeters from my chest and everything all around me frozen.

"Hello Ashton."

"Now I'm hearing voices. Just perfect."

"You're not hearing voices. I'm really here and I'm right beside you. You see Ashton you don't exist anymore. All of your friends, your family, nobody knows you anymore. Only I know you and I saved you. If you come with me we can figure out why you don't exist and find a way to save you and fix things back to the way they were. All you have to do is take my hand." A pale hand stretched out in front of me. The voice was hypnotic almost but I knew better.

"How do I know that you didn't cause all of this to happen to me? I don't even know you. Why should I trust you?" I question the mystery person.

"Because dear child. I am just like you." A man with black hair appeared in front of me with a sickly sweet smile on his face. "Just come with me and all your troubles can be solved."

"I'm not buying it. I'm suppose to trust a guy I just met who loves hanging out in the shadows? I think not. I don't know which idiot you're looking for but it's not me." I turned away to walk off but the hand on my shoulder stopped me.

"Wouldn't you like to have Tracy back? Imagine how lonely she'll be without you. You were her only friend. And she had feelings for you Ashton. Are you ready to throw all of that away?"

"Keep her name out of your mouth. She's a girl who can handle herself really well she doesn't need the likes of you around her. I'm gonna leave you with a warning stay away from Tracy or death will be your new best friend." I tried my best to sound threatening but the smirk on his face told a different story.

"Have it your way son. But just know that I'm always here for you. Just say Ophuichus three times and I'll come save you." The man slowly headed back into where he came from. "Oh you have five seconds before time resumes so you'd better run before everyone thaws out." With that he was gone and so was I.

It pained me to leave Tracy behind like that but I had no other choice. If I stayed I'd end up a criminal and in jail and I'm too young to worry about dropping the soap. I'd figure out what was wrong with everything first then fix it and get my Tracy back.

"I swear Tracy I will get you back. One way or another."
