*what are you doing to me, Painty..* part.2

part 2 of chapter 5 💗

LIGHTBULBS POV:

I woke up again, this time it was dark out. I must've fallen back asleep once Fan left. I felt somewhat energized. I didn't feel that concerned anymore. I guess the feelings brushed off. I just needed sleep. I got up from the my bed and went outside for air. I sat on the front porch as I looked up at the sky. I let out a big sigh and realized everything I was doing to myself, just for Paintbrush, just for their attention, just for them to notice me in a different way.

I got up and stretched. I couldn't keep doing this. It was just going to tear me apart. I was about to walk back inside until I heard slight footsteps in the distance. I've been snuck up on too much. I decided to walk to the sound instead. I walked over to where I heard the footsteps. I glanced over until I saw a shadow. It was TestTube. I sighed in relief and whispered as she got closer to me.

"hey, whatcha doing?" I said to TT.

"hey Lightbulb. It's good to see you on your feet again." TestTube said.

"aha,, yeah..." I said looking at the ground.

"I uhm....need you for something. Come with me. It's urgent." TestTube said as she twiddled her thumbs.

She looked nervous but really smiley. I raised my eyebrow and cleared my throat.

"Oh...okay, sure." I said as I followed TestTube in the direction of the forest.

I was a little uneasy because we were entering the forest at night. But I kept my mouth shut.

TestTube walked up ahead and I dodged the trees as I followed. As we got closer to what looked like another figure sitting down, I started to squint to catch a better glimpse. 

It was......

Paintbrush...

I caught up with TestTube and I whispered to her.

"W-why is Paintbrush here?..." I said as we got close enough to the tree stump paintbrush was sitting on, looking in the other direction.

TestTube looked at me and grinned lightly. I felt uncomfortable, but I did want to know what this whole thing was about. So I went on with it.

TestTube: "Hey! Paintbrush.."

Paintbrush looked at us and got up.. I felt my stomach twist into knots.....Not in a good way.

Paintbrush approached me with a worried look on their face. My lip curled as they got closer. When we were finally face to face TestTube started to back up slowly.

"Well, I'll leave you two to it.." TestTube said.

"W-wha.... wait..Test...." I tried, but TestTube ran in the other direction. Leaving me in the most awkward position ever.

I turned back to look at Paintbrush and they were looking down.

"Well?..." I said annoyed.

"Well...?" Paintbrush replied.

I scoffed.

"I was dragged out here at almost 11pm and now you aren't going to say anything t—" Paintbrush cut me off my laying their lips lightly on mine.

My eyes opened wide and I pushed them back.

"W-what the hell are you doing?!.." I yelled.

"Lightbulb...You're too loud!.." Paintbrush said, shushing me.

"I don't care. Why are you trying to kiss me?!" I said pushing Paintbrushes hands off of me.

Paintbrush bit their bottom lip and sighed.

"TestTube told me everything.." Paintbrush said as they rubbed the back of their neck.

"W-what do you mean...what'd she tell you?.." I said back.

"Everything. How you felt when you saw Match and me. How you hated it. And how you really felt about me all this time.." Paintbrush started.

I paused. This was the worst feeling ever. What am I supposed to do. I can't just run away now.

"I- uh.. well.." I tried.

Paintbrush put their finger on my lips. Shushing me.

"Lightbulb...it's okay.."

Paintbrush pulled me in and kissed me once more. This time, I kissed back. It lasted a while. It was sweet and passionate. I felt the butterflies again. In a good way this time. I was still angry and confused but all of a sudden, all of my bad feelings vanished somehow. I was so into the kiss. I've always wanted this. I've been craving this.

Paintbrush ran their hands down my arms which gave me a tingly feeling. Then after a while, they gently pulled back. Leaving me speechless.

"It's okay..." Paintbrush said with tears in their eyes.

"What's wrong..?" I said calmly.

"It's nothing...I just feel so stupid..." Paintbrush replied.

"Wh-what for."

"Not telling you how I felt earlier..." Paintbrush started.

I gritted my teeth.

"What are you saying Paintbrush...?" I said as I payed attention to Painty.

"I- I love you Lightbulb..." Paintbrush said as they put their hands in mine and looked into my eyes.

"You....you what...." I said as my heart started to beat faster.

"But what about Match....what was that about?!" I said right after.

"Match?....I thought if I started to date Match right after I was eliminated, it'd stop me from constantly thinking about you.." Paintbrush said as I gripped their hands a bit tighter.

"Why would you want to do that?..." I said.

"Lightbulb... once you're eliminated, there's no going back. I didn't think I was ever going to see you again. I couldn't bare with the pain for so long so I guess I needed someone else to fill it...but trust me I know trying to replace you was a terrible idea. It didn't stop me from thinking about you. And that day you came to Oj's hotel— I was completely shocked. As soon as I saw your face it made me relive the feelings I really had for you. And I realized you are irreplaceable.. and I just...Couldn't keep away..."

Paintbrush said as they looked deeper into my eyes.

I could see the pain in them. I could tell by their expressions that they weren't lying. The truth stood out in them. And I felt it...
