I was sorry for what happened to Michael. A bridge fell on him if I'm right, and that's how he died. He died a hero. Now you might think: "Aren't you happy that the boy your crush had a crush on is no longer here?" The answer is: I am not out of my mind. I couldn't be happy for the death of someone from our side, a death that is as well causing sadness to Katie and the whole Apollo cabin. How could I be happy for it!?
After I gave Katie the notebook, I went to my room to get ready. It was our time now, and again. I was ready.
TIME SKIIIIP
The battle started. We were guards at the entrance in mount Olympus, and I hated that. Why couldn't I fight and help the others!? I understood someone had to stay here but why me and Connor!? The monsters were now at the door, fighting with the demigods. I could see what was happening. I saw Cecil fighting a basilisk, then I saw Katie. She was trying to fight a hellhound by herself and, as you could probably guess, it didn't work out really well. The hellhound scratched her shoulder, and she collapsed on the ground.
-Connor, I said, I'll be right back.
I was running like a madman and, as the hellhound jumped at Katie, I impaled my sword into the back of her spine and she turned into dust. Katie was looking at me, surprised, then stood up.
-You owe me that, you know? I asked, grinning.
-I could have saved myself, she mumbled.
-With that shoulder?
-My shoulder is completely fine!
It wasn't. Blood was streaming out of it, and it was clear that Katie was in pain.
I sighted.
-Come on, let's take you to the infirmary. She looked as if she wanted to argue, but then she grimaced from the pain in her shoulder and nodded. I took her there. She could walk, I just made sure no monster attacks her.
When she reached the infirmary she whispered a little "thanks" before closing the door.
I smiled and went to my post again. Connor was still there, looking worried. He sighted in relief when he saw me.
-Dude, where were you?
-Had to save a life, I said dramatically, winking.
-Wha...Connor muttered with wide eyes. What's that?
I turned around. Outside was a HUGE snake. It was bigger then the Empire State Building, WOW! And it spitted poison. Great, just great. We went outside, deciding we needed to help the others. We fought as well as we could, but it was clear we had no chance. Until...
-Look! The Ares campers!
It was true! They finally decided to come and help us. They attacked the drakon . Then Clarisse appeared. Wait, wasn't Clarisse here already? I'm confused...
At the end, the new Clarisse defeated the drakon. The "old Clarisse" was in fact Silena Beugard. She was the spy, but we all forgave her, she gave her life for us, for dad's sake!
The war went on. I saw Katie walk out of the infirmary, with a bandage around her shoulder, beginning to fight. I had the sudden urge to go pick her up and take her back to the doctors, where she would have been safe, but I knew how Katie was. She wasn't going to stay back while her friends were fighting. "That stubborn girl", I thought while fighting. "You know you love her", a little voice in my head whispered.
I continued fighting, trying to keep both Katie AND Connor in my surroundings, and believe me when I say it wasn't a piece of cake. They were both running like maniacs around, slashing and stabbing everything in their way. But all of us were beginning to lose our forces, even with the help of Annabeth's statues, Thalia's hunters of Artemis and Grover's nature spirits, the enemies gravely outnumbered us. Then a serpent women came running at me. She punched me while I was looking in the other direction and I fell on the ground. She held me tight with her snake-like legs and wouldn't let me stand up. I already felt exhausted and didn't try to escape her hold. She was slowly suffocating me, while I laid numbly on the ground. Connor was busy fighting a hellhound and Katie was nowhere to be seen. What a beautiful way to die...
Suddenly, a defiant yell came from behind the serpent, the kind of yell that made your blood run cold and your legs run as fast as they can. But I knew that voice.
A short girl came running in my direction, with a knife in her hands, screaming like psycho. Half of her hair was out of the braid that probably was neat once. Her green eyes, with sparks of brown inside them, looked frightening in that moment. Her lips in a defiant growl, her eyebrows furrowing, her body covered in scratches and bruises. I couldn't imagine someone looking so scary and so beautiful at the same time. Katie Gardner, everyone!
She ran at the serpent and stabbed it in the chest. It turned into dust immediately. Katie sat there a few seconds looking startled. Then she looked at me and smiled. I still couldn't believe I was almost suffocated.
-Out of breath, are we? she said, looking me in the eye. That's my girl, trowing puns in the middle of the fight.
-What would I do without you? I replied, smirking.
She rolled her eyes and went back to fighting.
I ran at Connor and helped him with the hellhound.
-Big brother comes at rescue!
Together we defeated the hellhound.
-I was fine without your help! Connor exclaimed.
-Man, you sound just like Katie!
-That's why you love me so much? he smiled innocently, before running away. That bastard...
~TIME SKIP~ (because I'm lazy sorry)
Just when we were going to get beaten up, Chiron came with his centaurs and helped us. Surprisingly, Percy didn't die. The prophecy wasn't about him, it was about Luke. Oh, Luke...It's hard to explain what I feel right now. He was my half-brother, and I spent this whole time thinking he was evil. Now that I knew he sacrificed his life for us, and defeated Kronos, I felt bad for thinking he was a bad person, our enemy. But he wasn't the only sibling I lost today. There were 3 that died in this last battle from cabin Hermes, plus the other 2 from the bridge fight. 5 siblings dead. I was sad about it, but I guess that's the way a demigod life is. Short. I went to every single one of them and apologized for bringing them here, and thanking them for fighting.
"The war is won...", I whispered in their ears. "...thanks to you. I'm sorry, really sorry for bringing you to this war. You are heroes, and will forever be remembered. I'm sure you're all in Elysium, brothers and sisters."
Connor patted my shoulder. He had tears in his eyes but he was smiling weakly at me.
-It was beautiful..what you said.
I stood up and hugged him.
-The war is over. No more deaths.
He nodded, and together we walked away.
