I was freaking crying but that wasn't my worst problem right now. I crashed in my bed and covered myself with the bed covers. I landed with my face on the pillow and just sat there, not moving. I rarely cry, and this was one of those rare moments. Miranda came running in. Billie and Max, two of my siblings looked as if they wanted to come in too, but Miranda shot them a glare and they understood the idea.
-Come on Katie, it isn't as bad as it seems! she tried to encourage me.
-It isn't that bad!? My soulmate is a Stoll! A freaking Stoll!
Miranda remained silent as she handed me some tissues. I took them and looked at her with puffy red eyes.
-Why?
This was all I said.
-I...I really don't know Katie, she said in a sad voice.
Then I heard knocks on the door. Nyssa Turner from the Hephaistos cabin, Lacy Spark from the Aphrodite cabin and Kayla Knowles from the Apollo cabin shot in. My closest friends.
-Ok, I need to know what happened! Nyssa started.
-Are you okay, Kates? Lacy asked, placing her hand on my shoulder.
-Yeah, who do I need to curse? Kayla asked. There will be so much rhyming from that person, he or she will forget what normal talking felt like!
I smiled a little.
-It's a long story...
-We have time! Kayla said, sitting on my bed, as well as the others.
I sighted. From the 5 of us, Nyssa Turner was the oldest, she was 15. Kayla was 14 and 7 months, Miranda 13 and 5 months, and Lacy was the youngest, she was 13 and 2 months. Nyssa had a tattoo with a key, and she already discovered her soulmate: Cecil Markowitz, from the Hermes cabin, a boy with straight brown hair and brown eyes. They were a couple and they suited each other perfectly. Kayla had a tattoo of a history book. We all knew her soulmate was Malcolm Pace, from the Athena cabin, but he was too shy to actually ask her out. And then there's my soulmate...
I rolled down my sleeve and showed them my tattoo. Kayla gasped, Lacy squealed, and Nyssa whispered "It all makes sense now..." under her breath.
-What are you talking about? Nothing makes sense now!
-Katie, Nyssa said calmly, can't you see that he only pranks your cabin?
-Yeah, and?
-He pranks you for your attention! Lacy claimed happily.
-Yeah...Kayla whispered. I still think he's an idiot.
-Kayla! Miranda shouted.
-What!?
-Girls ,stop! I begged. The problem is I don't want HIM to be my soulmate! We're just so different! This should be a mistake!
-The tattoo can't make mistakes Katie! Lacy begged. It's love involved in it!
-Then maybe I read it wrong! Maybe my soulmate is someone else!
-Who else would have such a weird symbol? Kayla asked.
-And what about Michael? I can't give up on him because of this stupid thing!
-Maybe it's just not meant to be...Lacy said, sadly.
-But...But...
Tears started going down my checks again and I covered my face with my hands, trying to mask it. But Miranda knew me too well. She whispered in my ear:
-It's alright Katie! Let's just pretend like none of this happened.
I nodded and smiled weakly.
-I'll...I'll just act as normally as I can. See all of you at breakfast. I need to get dressed.
They patted my shoulder and walked out of the cabin. Miranda was already dressed up so I told her that I'll see her there. She nodded and left.
I put on jeans, a camp half blood T-shirt and a green jacket because : one-I was the kind of person that was always cold and two-I didn't want people to see my soulmate tattoo. I left my hair free, but I brushed it and made it look less messy. I had light brown hair, green eyes, pale skin and a few freckles on my skin. I had a normal waist and was pretty short, the others made fun of me for that. I muttered angrily at the hair that won't just sit normally, then I finally walked to the dining pavilion. People were staring but I tried to act like I don't care. I glared at the Stolls. Connor just looked away, but Travis looked as if he was actually sorry. I shook the feeling off. No way he's sorry for a prank, he's just a stupid Stoll. I ate my breakfast (cereals with milk), then walked to the archery arena. Michael Yew was there. A lot of people underestimated him because he was short, but I knew he was a powerful, yet sweet guy in reality. That's why I had a huge crush on him. We were about the same heigh, maybe he was a little taller than me (I know I know, I'm really short). He had black hair, freckles and brown eyes. Now he was 15. When he was younger he used to be more happy, now he looked sad. He rarely smiled and was very serious and loyal to this camp. He was going to teach us how to shot an arrow properly. And today I was going to talk to him. Deep breath...
-Hey Michael! I started.
He looked in my direction.
-Oh, hi, Katie!
-Can you please help me hold the arrow? I think I'm doing it wrong...
Okay, the truth is I'm not dumb and I've learnt to hold an arrow properly in the 4 years I've been here, but I needed a good excuse to talk to him. "Please say yes, please say yes".
-Sure thing, he responded.
I had to hold back to not breath out in relief. He came close to me, so he was behind me but our shoulders were touching. He put a hand on the arrow and the other on mine, that was on the string of the arrow. My heart was beating out of my chest.
-So you have to hold it like this. Now close one eye and focus on the center of the target.
I did as he said.
-Now let go, he whispered.
It hit the bull eye. I smiled happily at him and he smiled back. We were still standing close, looking into each other eyes, smiling, then...
BUM!
Mud hit Michael right in the back. He turned around shocked. Travis was sitting behind him, his hand covered in mud, trying to look as innocently as he could. Then he ran off, leaving me and Michael really angry.
-HE IS SO DEAD! I started.
-OH, YEAH! THAT'S FOR SURE! Michael yelled narrowing his eyes, trying to clean the mud off his shirt.
Then he looked at me.
-Let's meet in the forest in 2 hours, okay?
Wait, what!? OH GODS OH GODS!
-Yeah, sure! I said, trying to sound calm.
-Great!
He gave me one of his rare smiles.
-See you there, Katie!
-Yeah, bye Michael!
I WAS SO HAPPY! I started to walk to my cabin and tell Miranda and my friends. I heard a sound in the bushes and I stopped. Then silence. Maybe I imagined it. I walked to my cabin already spacing out and thinking of what should I wear at my very first date.
Hi everyone! Another chapter! I don't own the art, but that's how I imagined Michael Yew. See you next time, vote and comment please! Byee!
