Buzz....
I dug into my pocket and found my phone. Mom was texting me. Leaning over, I jabbed a finger nail into Aaron's side. He met my gaze and I mouthed, "We gotta go." He nodded and got up heading out into the aisle. His hands outstretched for mine, palms up and when I took them, we headed out of the nearly empty theatre.
In the light of the main room, I pulled my phone out and opened the text. Giving it a quick scan, I turned to Aaron who was preoccupied by a group of girls that were going into the next theatre. Once again they had stopped him and I could only assume he was loving the attention he was receiving from his new look. I moved to his side, hell bent to chase the girls away from what was mine. Now I could only imagine what Priscilla had gone through. Although, what she did to Elvis was very wrong.
By the time I joined Aaron at his side, he was singing to one of the girls who was recording him. His voice was soft but full of life as she stared directly at the camera. When his sweet little serenade was over, I walked over and gave a heavy sigh, taking his arm in my grip.
"Come on honey, we have to get going. Momma wants us to meet her at a restaurant. We have choir practice after." I said softly, my eyes hovering on his face.
His eyes moved to mine and he smiled, "Alright baby."
The taller of the two sets of eyes moved to mine. The red heads face contorted slightly with a look of disgust. I couldn't help but smirk as Aaron draped an arm around my shoulder and led me out of the theatre. I had to admit that it annoyed me to see girls drool over him but it was always bitter sweet to be the one that he was leaving with. We walked back to the car and Aaron opened my door, letting me in first. Such a gentleman, as always.
When we were both settled inside, he turned and looked at me, "Where are we going, darlin'?"
I checked over the text one more time trying to make sure I was right before I opened my mouth. "We're going to some place called the .. Kings Place Cafe." I shrugged and punched the name of the place into the GPS.
Once again Aaron turned on his Elvis CD and was singing his heart out proudly. I leaned into my seat and watched as we rolled past the busy streets. The sun was beginning to set and what I saw at Graceland was still resting on my mind. Curiosity struck me when I fished my camera from my pocket and went through the photos until I found the piano shot. It looked just like the one at home but I'm sure mom and dad could have found a piano that looked like the one at Graceland. They were every where.
"Babe." Aaron's voice chimed up over the beautiful flow of music. His hand moved quickly to the volume dial and in one swift move the music had been cut off. "Are you okay? You kinda seem sad."
"It's a lot.." I said, lowering the camera. "A lot to take in." I confessed.
Aaron knew just what I was saying. He smiled, his golden orbs never leaving the road, "I know what you mean but we have to take it in and embrace it. Look honey, things ain't that bad." He assured me but I wasn't so sure. The car fell silent as we traveled back to Beale Street. The air was thick between the two of us, but it was never uncomfortable. He could tell his new style and the attention he was bringing was bothering me but what could he do? This was what he wanted.
Pulling up to the restaurant, Aaron moved swiftly and let me out of the car. He hand was gentle when he gripped mine in it. His skin was hard and callused but he was gentle in the way he used his thick, rough hands. He guided me into the restaurant and toward the table where mom sat. An older gentlemen sat across from her. I could only assume he was the man who had helped to put this all together. Aaron stopped in his tracks and turned to face me.
