Iris woke up as soon as she heard a groan from the four-poster bed beside her. She smiled as she opened her eyes, already guessing what was happening. Without wasting more than a second, she reached for the drawer on her bedside table and picked up a pack of aspirin. She got up from her own bed and walked toward Dorcas', pulling open the curtains.

"Morning." She smirked as the brunette girl buried her face on her pillow.

"Go to hell, Iris." She mumbled and Iris rolled her eyes.

"Someone's bitter."

"Shut up."

"Oh, Merlin, fine, then." Iris sighed, as she threw the remedy at Dorcas, who moved slowly so she could see what was the small silvery thing her best friend had thrown at her. "It's aspirin. It won't do any miracles, but it'll help."

"Asp- what?" She frowned, as she sat down.

"Aspirin." Iris answered, as she brushed her wild red hair so she could start getting ready to school. "It's muggle medicine for headache."

"What do I do with it?" She asked.

Iris shook her head and placed the brush down, reaching for the aspirin and pulling one of the pills out of its package. She gave it back to Dorcas and shoved the glass of water she had gotten last night into her free hand.

"Put it in your mouth and swallow." The red haired girl instructed, as she walked toward her wardrobe, pulling out her uniform and usual tie. "With water it is easier."

There was a moment of silence, as Dorcas stared at the little pill on her hand and played with it a bit, careful not to drop it.

"What happened last night?" She asked. Iris froze.

"Hum... Well, we won the game and Lucas and Summers thought it would be a good idea to throw a party to celebrate. You ended up drinking a bit too much and threw up, so Milla and I brought you back to the dorm so you get some rest." She said, starting to change, and not daring to turn to face Dorcas. She knew that if she did, the girl would end up realizing she knew something she wasn't telling her. And Iris didn't want that to happen.

"Milla was here." The brunette said. It wasn't a question, so Iris didn't respond. "And how was I? Drunk, I mean..."

Iris knew what she was doing. She was trying to get her most important and uncomfortable question answered without having to actually ask it out loud. Iris also knew what that question was and its answer, but couldn't bring herself to answer it. Maybe she was mean... Maybe she was selfish... But she thought it wasn't her place to say anything.

"Quite funny." She decided to answer, giving Dorcas a weak smile as she finally turned around to face her. "You couldn't even count to three."

Dorcas gave her best friend the same weak smile. She sighed, before finally swallowing the aspiring and taking a big gulp of the water in her hand with a scowl.

"These Muggles medicines are disgusting." She mumbled, placing the now half empty glass in her bedside table.

"You're lucky it's in pills and not liquid." Iris laughed. "Now, you lay down and get some sleep while I go to classes, get you some notes and tell the Professors you are ill."

"But I'm not!" She protested. Iris arched an eyebrow at her and she huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "Fine. But we have History of Magic today, so you better get some good notes."

Iris rolled her eyes as she picked up her bag and headed toward the door.

"As if I don't always."

When she arrived the Great Hall, she automatically searched for Camilla in the Ravenclaw Table. As usual, she was sat by Bambi, but they didn't seem to be interacting at all. As soon as Iris' eyes met Camilla's, she looked down, blushing slightly and suddenly very interested in whatever book Bambi was reading at the moment. Iris sighed, but ignored the voice in her head telling her to go talk to her friend going to sit down by the other girls in her year.

She chatted and giggled with them during breakfast, and as she was getting ready to leave, Camilla appeared beside her.

"Good morning." She smiled.

"Good morning." Iris responded.

Bambi, who was also around nodded. Camilla looked at Iris and then at the rest of the Hufflepuff table. Her green eyes showed no emotion at all.

"Dorcas' alright?" She asked.

"She's fine. She's just with too much of a headache to go to class." Iris answered, trying to look at Camilla's eyes. Trying to understand what was happening.

"I see." She nodded, before fixing her bag on her shoulder. "Well, we have Potions, now. Shall we go?"

Her voice was cheerful again and Iris felt a pain in her chest as she realized that nothing had changed. None of them had decided to talk about Dorcas' confession. They've decided to let it go, as if it had never happened before. A few minutes earlier, Iris had hoped that Dorcas would talk about it, so she would've known for sure that her best friend was confident enough in her own feelings to repeat those exact same words to Camilla. But sober this time. However, now that she saw Camilla's reaction, she wasn't sure Dorcas should repeat the confession.

Apparently Camilla didn't feel the same.

Apparently Dorcas would have to overcome that crush.

Apparently if they talked, they would only hurt each other.

"Yeah." Iris answered, still in a sort of daze, in her own thoughts. "Yeah, let's go."

And as the three girls made her way toward the Potion's class, in the dungeon, Iris got herself being a selfish bitch once more. Ignoring the pain Dorcas must have been feeling by the uncertain, but imagined rejection and the hurt Camilla was hiding under that fake smile and bright eyes – the hurt of, because of something she couldn't control, hurting her best friend –, Iris got herself hoping.

Hoping things were different.

That either Camilla could respond to Dorcas' feelings.

Or be able to ignore them and keep their friendship intact, just the way it was.
