I woke up with the sound of the wind howling in my ears. I felt like I was in the center of a storm. A part of me howled out at it. Howled out in joy and desire. I wanted to be closer. Most races could not take a lightening hit and walk away like its nothing but for a Fin it was normal. We would never have run from our water pools just because of a little lightening. My hand curled in the fur beneath me. Fur?
I looked down to see white fur. It was soft and smooth. But it was not just white, I only noticed when the a flash of lightening showed the different interwoven colors. There were highlights of blue, green, and black. "Beautiful," I could not help but whisper as thunder rolled in the air.
Your finally awake Mistress. Would you like to land?
Land and miss this feeling? No. No I wanted to stay here warped in this chilling and electrifying feeling.
Very good Mistress. Please hang on. And then I dropped. No, not just I. We. I saw his head. My familiar dragon. I laughed as we dove. His wings tucked to his body sending us down. I laughed as we twisted and spun. The water and waves seeming to reach for us as we went to them. Those tricolored wings snapping open just as we reached the water. They did not need to beat, just open and catch on the wind of our decent, giving lift. He laughed with me then and I knew this was right. Just above the waves we soared.
I knew these waves. Knew the smell. The sound. The sight. Home. These were the waves of the Fin land. Land I had longed for. It called to me being so close. Before I could think about just what I was about to do I jumped into those heated stormy waters. I felt a spilt second of fear that quickly shifted to thrilling freedom. The dragon close at my heels. I knew it only took the smallest of moments to hit the water after one jumped yet this time they seemed longer. As if the very air wished to welcome me back home. Then I closed my eyes and felt the water break over my skin.
Home. Deeper beneath the waves I went knowing the dragon was not far behind. It was with the echo of a thunder shock that he broke the water. Not far enough. He was heavy and broke the surface like an arrow. I turned my eyes open as I reached out to brace for the quickly impending impact. My hands met the fur that was flatting back over that face. My knees curled up to to protect my stomach. Yet the impact that left me latching onto the white fur was not painful in the slightest. No it was gentle, but continued to push me down into the blackened deep that was the sea.
Down to home. I fliped myself around and onto his nose. Clinging to his fur as we continued down deeper into the depths.
