Dimitri POV
Five days. Five days since my mate had been taken by her dragon familiar. An old one at that. The only lead we had as to where the dragon had taken her was the direction he flew and the five dire wolves. Their paws ate at the ground. Still young as they were it made me wonder if she just called more powerful familiars to her. Still they were drawn to her. That ment we could follow them to her.
I wasn't the only one going after her. Five other dragon knights had come with me, the rest had returned to the kingdom to inform the others of what they had witnessed and talk with the king himself. The fact that the dragons had a king had long since been suggested but if so wouldn't it stand to reason that he would stand beside our king. Apparently not. From what the dragons had been saying the king of dragons had always had a female rider and had several queens beside him. Jade was now one of them it would seem.
The other dragons saw that she was feed, she no longer had to hunt, they ensured that each of her scales was cleaned to the point of perfection, and asked her about her thoughts on the 'kings rider' as if she wasn't my mate but Jades. The pups too were allowed more free reign over where and how the went. Apparently any familiar of the rider was to be treated as the rider herself.
I just wanted her back. She was my mate, but her bite on my neck was long gone. The only proof I had of her existing somewhere out there were the five pups. Still I wanted... needed to see her to know she was safe and well.
Yet somehow all of us had fallen into a pattern over these few days. We would wake up, put the tents away, mount up and case after the pups. Those pups wouldn't stop until high sun, when they would eat this or that, occasionally they managed to catch fish. They'd eat what they found or caught and then be off yet again. The wouldn't rest again until moon rise. When they would eat once again before sleeping.
For the time being they seemed to be taking us to the Fin Lands. In a way that made since. That was her birth place and where she spent most of her childhood from my understanding. A very different place from her father's lands.
