The guards that mother always kept near rushed me, but they knew like I knew it was too late. She would never see again, and would have a large part of her face scarred for life. I had known the second my venomous fangs had returned. Servents rushed into the room at her cry. But one look at her there on the floor and they knew what most people in the manor knew, I was back. There had been a roar from outside this time it came from inside. This time it came from me.
I turned looking at my father and my brother, "Run." It was a simple command and they listened just as they had with the maid when I was young. This time however they grabbed hold of dragon guards. Pushing them toward the door. Hey heeded them. Not Dimitri who had started to pull a dagger from his shoe. It was my father grabbing him, yelling as he pulled him slowly from the room, that got him out just in time. I felt one of the guards blades slash my upper arm.
Then the roar sounded again, loader, stronger, and pissed from just beyond the windows. I turned and looked catching sight of one huge eye that could have shallower me whole. Mistress. The single word rank and my head and I felt that bond the same one as the pups had with me snap into place. Then the wall broke bringing down the ceiling and the world around me went back.
Dimitri ran with his mates father. Worried for his mate but she had given an order and so had her father. She had told them to run and run they did. Outside where dragons had taken to land. Every dragon had taken to land, braking houses without care but no one seemed hurt the fact. The dragons had their heads down, some still coming in to land. Even Jade had come. The guards and towns foke looking on in awe as they seemed to line up side by side, row after row. The roar came again they heard it, everyone reaching to cover their ears as the dragons lowered their heads, and guards faced the same place they had run from.
Everyone could do no more than watch as the roof collapsed in. Diana still inside. Dimitri yelled watching and being held from running back inside by his brothers. As a white head lifted out of the darkness.
We submit to you our King.
The dragons had a King as well, but no seemed to notice so much as the fact that laying lightly along his nose was Diana. Her body lay limp but he was careful as he moved. He did not need to stand, no with his size. Compared to him Jade was no more than a hatchling. Diana not even taking up quarter of his nose. He looked at them all.
Hail the Mistress. She is born again.
The male dragon huffed at them. Careful not to drop his little mistress. As he stood his eyes glanced at Dimitri. Then Jade.
I suppose you will do for now. Until the others come.
A creast of feathers raising up and flattening. They were a dark blue but impossible to see without them lifted. His claws were on paws, the bottom of each furry leg a different color impossible to see without a better angle. It seemed like his entire body was furred. He spun quickly away from them all opening two massive wings. Both covered in feathers of their own, starting with a light blue and getting darker as it moved down to black. It lifted to its hind legs and slid her prone body back on its head. Back over those feather and down the neck. Then she stopped, her body seeming to rest in a nest of fur between the shoulder blades. The sound of five howls filled the air and then the dragon and his rider was gone.
