Day 5: "Don't Cry"

Baby Keith AU.

"Shhh, It's okay, baby, it's okay. Shhhh, shhhhh..."  Lance spoke softly as he comforted baby Keith. Keith had been poisoned on a nearby planet and it caused him to turn into a baby. As if things couldn't be worse, there was a thunderstorm outside and baby Keith had woken up screaming and crying. Lance, having the most siblings growing up, naturally knew how to care for a baby, but Keith had been hard until now. He hadn't cried or whined since he turned into a baby, and that was almost twelve hours ago. But now, Keith was turning red in the face as he cried and screamed. Keith let out a new round of wails as another clap of thunder was heard.

"I know, I know baby. It's okay, you're okay. Don't cry baby. Shhh, Shhh..."  Lance soothed him. Keith wailed and screamed as the storm got worse, and Lance sighed, knowing that the tactic he was using wasn't going to work. Lance bounced Keith in his arms and rubbed his back soothingly, quietly hushing him. With each clap of thunder, Keith's screams started again. 

"Baby, it's okay, you don't have to be scared. It's okay, you're okay. I promise. Shhh... Shhhh..." He spoke as Keith screamed and bawled. At this rate, Lance feared that Keith would make himself sick from crying for so long. Lance sighed softly as he carried Keith to Shiro's room, gently knocking on the door. Shiro opened the door and saw Lance and Keith, and he instantly knew what was going on.

"He's scared?" He asked. Lance could only nod as Keith started screaming again with a new clap of thunder. Shiro sighed and went into the bag of baby stuff Coran had given them. Shiro told Lance to give him Keith and bring his cot into Shiro's room. Lance agreed and Shiro gently held Keith in his arms as Keith wailed. Shiro closed the door and calmly hushed Keith. Shiro's room was sound proof, so the loud noises wouldn't make Keith scream anymore. 

"Shhh, shhhh. It's okay, Keith, it's okay. Shhhh..." Shiro rubbed Keith's back calmingly and rocked him back and forth in his arms. Keith's screams died down and just left him crying in Shiro's arms. Shiro smiled softly and rubbed Keith's back, kissing his forehead gently. Keith sniffled and looked up at Shiro with tear-filled eyes. Shiro smiled softly at him.

"Hi, baby. Everything's okay now. Shiro's here, I'm here. Everything's ok." Shiro spoke softly, soothing him. Keith smiled and gurgled, reaching up for Shiro. Shiro smiled softly and held out his finger for Keith to grab, which he did. When Lance opened the door, a loud clap of thunder was heard. Shiro flinched and Keith started to cry again, whining and whimpering in Shiro's arms. He bounced Keith gently and tried to calm him down, but Keith started crying, fat tears rolling down his face. Shiro sighed softly and looked up at Lance.

"Hey, Lance, can you get the pacifier from the bag?" Shiro asked over Keith's wails. Lance nodded and rummaged through the bag of baby supplies until he found the pacifier, quickly handing it to Shiro. Shiro rubbed Keith's lips with his fingers and Keith started sucking on Shiro's pointer finger, slowly calming down. Shiro chucked and smiled, bouncing Keith on his leg as Lance handed him the pacifier.

"Here you go." Lance spoke, giggling. "You look like such a dad right now." Lance smiled as Shiro put the pacifier into Keith's mouth, the small baby sucking on it gently as he started falling asleep. Shiro laughed quietly when Lance called him a dad.

"Oh, shut up." Shiro laughed as he bounced Keith gently on his leg, letting him sleep. Lance smiled softly and sat next to Shiro and his baby-ified boyfriend. He gently pet Keith's small head, soothing baby Keith.

"Y'know, as adorable as baby Keith is, I want my boyfriend back." Lance spoke gently, trying not to wake Keith. Shiro smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, I miss normal Keith, too." Shiro whispered. "But he is super cute like this."
