I awkwardly sit in a wooden chair across from Luke's desk as he writes 'business' on a piece of paper in a ancient cursive font. The only sound in the room is the sound of rain pelting on the window and Luke's pen scrapping against the paper.
"Luke?" I ask.
"Alisha, I'm working" Luke speaks as he continues to scribble down on the paper.
"Have you at all recently thought about continuing our counselling sessions?" I ask anyway, not caring about interrupting anything important.
"No I haven't, why?" He replies, attention still on his work.
"Because I still want to help you".
"Help me by passing the envelopes over there?" Luke asks completely ignoring my words. I sigh and walk over to a small table on the other side of the room and hand them to Luke who is still head down in writing.
"Why won't you consider it?" I nag as I take a seat back in the wooden chair opposite of Luke. Luke looks up at me and drops his pen.
"I don't like to feel weak that's why" Luke speaks and balls his fists.
"There's nothing weak about talking to a councillor Luke, it's about getting to the root of your sadness and making you a better person" I explain.
"You think I'm sad?" Luke's expression hardens.
"I do, and I think that's why you have killed the people you've killed, because they hurt you and didn't understand your pain" I sympathetically speak.
"I killed those people because I had to! I cant control myself Alisha! Dammit I've told you! I don't have a choice!" Luke loudly growls.
"Your sudden defence and outburst is a sign of disturbance in your life Luke, please just agree to doing sessions again. You can get better you just have to want to get better" I explain calmly. Luke sighs as he runs his hands through his hair and rubs his face.
"Okay. Fine, we'll do a couple of sessions, just let me be until I finished this lot of work" Luke agrees and picks up his pen again. I smile to myself as I nod quietly and raise from my chair and walk over to the wall of books. I run my hand along the spine of hundreds of books, looking for a decent one to read. I stop my hand on the only romantic book out of the lot and pull it off the shelf causing a hunk of dust to fall off it. I walk over to a reading chair in the corner and sit on it, tucking my legs to the side getting comfy and I open up the book and begin to read the faded ink on the pages.Dinner that night was very full on, just like my first night here. Strange faces that I've never greeted wonder and stand in a horrible posture talking and intoxicated, celebrating some assort occasion. I stand beside Luke as he greets guests arriving at the dinning doors. I'm silent as I become suddenly interested in the peers filling the room and balcony, I can't help but notice that I'm the only female in the room other than the, in no other words. Slaves.
"This is the gathering before my battlers go out for their wipeout mission. They go out once a year to and travel by foot to the Morcombe colab in order to kill their leader" Luke whispers in my ear as he leads me back into the room full of guests.
"Why send off people to kill someone you want dead, why not do it yourself?" I ask.
"Because that's their job baby girl, my job is to stay here and protect you" he chuckles and swings an arm around my shoulders.
"Can I ask who or what the Morcombe colab is?" I quiz.
"Morcombe? he runs this whole possy who think they are the greatest. They capture my men and hold them as prisoners-"
"Oh I know the feeling" I butt in.
"Hey! You're not a prisoner, you're the lady, there's a difference. Anyway, he captures my men and tortures them until they reveal secret information shared amongst our house so they can come and invade the third floor" Luke mumbles in my ear.
"Why haven't you personally killed him if you want him dead, serious?".
"Just because" Luke shrugs.
"Is he powerful?" I quiz.
"Very".
"What does he look like?".
"I haven't met him, wouldn't know. Don't really care either" Luke shrugs again.
"If you've never met him how would you kn-"
"If you keep asking questions I swear to god i'll kiss you to shut you up" Luke chuckles. I blush and shut my mouth.A short man dressed in a tux offers glasses of wine and whiskey to groups of people around the party, he approaches us with his hand formally tucked infront of him.
"Any drinks today sir Brooks, miss Hamilton?" The man smiles and twitches his growing moustache.
"Don't mind of we do, thankyou Carl" Luke nods and grabs a glass of whiskey and a glass of wine and hands it to me as he takes a swing of his drink.
"Thankyou" I say and take a baby sip of the alcohol. Several drinks and many boring conversations later, Luke finally turns away from his battler group making the most of their last night and steps up on a plush carved wooden coffee table and taps a spoon on his half empty whiskey cup. Everyone's voices and laughs become mute and all eyes fall upon Luke standing above them.
"As we all know, each year we send off 24 brave battlers to travel and fight the Morcombe collab, each year our men sacrifice their lives for our sake. To keep our family as one. There will be blood, success, sorrow and death. All must be done to finally bring peace amongst our family and tonight, we make the most of us all being a group and pray to god our men all return with the head of Sir Morcombe and his Thorners. Drink up men, and we wish you luck" Luke raises his glass and then gulps down the rest of his whiskey. Everyone nods and lets out a cheer before going back to their own business.
"Now, let's get drunk" Luke grins at me and snaps his fingers in the air, Carl running over and quickly handing Luke two drinks off his tray.
"Enjoy Mr Brooks" Carl smiles. Luke hands me one of the sparkling drinks in his hands for the 5th time tonight.
"Too you babe" Luke winks as he raises his glasses to me and swallows the entire shot of whiskey, letting out a moan due to the burning sensation at the back of his throat.
"And too you Mr Brooks" I raise my glass also. Luke places his hand on my drink and lowers it from my lips.
"I'm not worthy of your toast Miss Alisha, you shouldn't waist such a precious thing" Luke huskily speaks and steals a glance at my lips.
"Do you want to get drunk or not?" I raise my eyebrow, causing Luke to smirk and remove his hand, allowing me to take down my beverage.A large grandfather clock standing boldly against a wall chimes 12 times indicating that it has approached 12am. My laughter and eyesight are out of control, by then I knew surely that I was drunk. Luke and I sprawl ourselves on two leather sofas in the living room, only about 30 people are left at the party by now.
"I think you're drunk miss Hamilton" Luke snickers.
"I-" I let out a hiccup "don't get drunk" I scoff and rise from the couch and walk over to the old fashioned band playing cheery music.
"I have a request" I cheekily grin, "Play us something Irish and high beat". The band leader nods and quickly whispers to his band member before they begin fiddle away on violins and such. I begin to nod my head and clap my hands to the beat as I walk back over to the couch. "Dance with me Mr Brooks" I grin and hold out my hand.
"I don't dance, no" Luke chuckles and shakes his head.
"Neither do I, now dance" I order. Luke shakes his head before he takes my hand and I heave him off the couch. Standing over me Luke places his empty hand on my waist.
"We're gonna look like fools" I laugh.
"That's okay, we're drunk" Luke shrugs. "We can do, whatever we like" He murmurs in my ear, sending a chill down my spine. We dance around in circles, mostly laughing and stepping on each others feet, after we begin to exhausted we both collapse on the couch. Luke throwing his feet over my lap, we both sip on another glass of alcohol.
"That was fun" Luke breathes.
"Yeah" I agree. "Lets not do that again" I laugh.
"It's a activity only to be done when you're intoxicated" Luke chuckles. Luke and I grow silent, just peacefully listening to the music playing and sipping on our drinks. Almost like it's too exhausting to even speak. I twirl my finger in circles on Luke's dress pants.
"Stop" Luke roughly mumbles.
"Shh I'm drawing something" frown.
Luke groans sits up in his place.
"You're so stubborn and girly" Luke chuckles.
"I am not" I huff. Luke shifts his body and within a second he's hovering over me with his hands either side of my head. Luke's eyes darken and his eyes rove down to my lips. He licks his lips in appreciation and regains eye contact with me.
"I want to kiss you miss Alisha, not to shut you up, but because I'm craving you" Luke whispers.
"You can do what you like when you're drunk" I snicker. Luke lets out a silent chuckle before clashing our lips together, a mixture of wine and whiskey burning my tongue and lips. Luke pulls away slightly and makes his way down my neck, leaving wet kisses in his path.
"Why is everything about you" luke leaves another kiss on my neck, "so damn perfect" Luke frustratingly whispers and crashes onto my lips once more. I let out a small moan of desire and Luke pulls away and looks me in the eyes.
"I would make love with you right now miss Alisha, but you don't love me yet" Luke gives one last peck before standing up.
"Parties over guys" Luke loudly speaks, the last of the people remaining nod their heads and walk out along with the band.
"Let's get you to bed" Luke sweetly smiles and scoops me off the couch.
"I hate that room" I groan to myself.
"No worries, you're sleeping with me tonight" Luke chuckles and carries me out into the hall. I reach down and open the door handle for luke and he pushes his open with his bum. His room is still bare and cold just the way i remember. Luke places me on the right side of his bed and pulls the blankets over me, crawling beside me and drooping an arm over my waist. "Goodnight Alisha" Luke barely whispers.
"Goodnight" my tone matching his._________________________________________
