Luke POV
I stand still and quiet behind the pantry doors, shortening each breath I take. I peak through the cracks in the doors clutching onto Jai's laptop. I can't risk it, gets raided and my plan goes out the door. I sternly watch Jai as his eyes wonder around the room, probably looking for me. The three men infront of him probably aren't helping his nerves, the detective pulls out a sheet of paper from his briefcase and slides it into the table in plain view
"would you like to explain to us why you're alive, and why your death certificate says you died 4 years ago?" The main raises an eyebrow, Jai gulps.
"shit" I curse under my breath.
"I uh.. There must be some sort of mistake?" Jai nervously chuckles. "I'm afraid not son, your death certificate was forged" the detective tuts
"we are going to need you to stand up and turn around, we gotta take you down town for some document work" the detective says as he drags out his chair and stands
"I'm getting arrested for being alive!? What kind of country is this?" Jai growls.
"Sir please lower your tone" one of the guard speaks.
"hands behind your back Brooks" the taller guard speaks and turns Jai around forcefully. Jai sighs and lifts his hands behind his back, the guard grabs his wrists and slaps on a pair of steel handcuffs and pulls Jai out the door of his house.Third Person POV
"How long will this take?" Jai wines sitting uncomfortably in the back seat of the police vehicle
"until we finish" the guard bluntly speaks. Jai drags out a groan and plonks his back against the leather seat. He turns his head, facing the window and watches the traffic whizz past, he watches the sun disappear behind the tall city buildings. Detective Noris flicks his eyes from the traffic to the review mirror and intensely watches Jai, studying him.
"What are you thinking about kid?" Detectives thinks american accent speaks. Jai draws his attention to the front "just everything, my mum, my brother, life" Jai shrugs and looks out the window again, resting his head on the palm of his hand.
"You're a good kid Jai, just a shame you had to go through all that" the detective gives Jai a sympathetic smile before shifting his attention towards the traffic infront."Stay there" the guard orders Jai, still in cuffs and turns around and heads into a small office. Jai looks around the station, reading the crime and safety posters. He walks over to an information board full of brochures and other things. He scans his eyes along each brochure and poster title.
'MISSING! Peter Morcombe
Age: 20
Missing since: 1/1/07
Personal Description: 5.10ft Male, brown hair, swept to side. Bright Green eyes, tattoos on right arm'Jai intensely reads through the poster, frowning more and more each second. He looks down at a screenshot from a security camera of the boy and Jai's eyes widen in shock.
"Alright kid, you're gonna be in the watch house cell until someone comes out for bail. Is there anyone we can call?" The guard comes out of the office, closing the door behind him. Jai snaps his body around.
"I thought I told you to stay put right here" the guard growls.
"Sorry.. I uh got curious" Jai nervously clears his throat and glances back at the poster before deftly walking back to his set location to stay standing.
"Anyone who can bail you out?" The guard speaks as he goes behind Jai and pulls out a set if keys and sticks one into the keyhole and unlocks jai's handcuffs. Jai freely cups his wrists and rubs them slightly.
"Uh there is someone.." Jai says un surely
"Great, we'll give them a call" the guard nods and opens a cell door and walks me inside.
"If you're lucky you'll be out before 11" the guard gives a small smile and shuts the gate.
"Thanks" Jai nods and the guard walks away again, the keys on his belt clinking with one another and echoing off the bare walls.Jai POV
I sit against the chilled brick wall with my legs against my chest and my arms around them. Peter Morcombe? A name I've never heard.. But his face.. It reminds me so much of my elder brother. He was great. He didn't deserve to die.
The watch house is empty tonight, so lonesome and boring. I stand up from my place, with a grey blanket they provided me with, and I drag myself towards the bars and look to the big digital clock that hangs at the end of the corridor '10:47pm'. I sigh and plonk myself back onto the ground, leaning my head back and watching the ceiling.
An estimate of 5 minutes passes and the metal door buzzes open, indicating an entrance. The same set of keys rattle throughout the empty space and I lift my head towards the bars.
"Good new Brooks, you've been bailed" the guard puffs as he unlocks the bared door.
"Bad News?" Jai frowns, expecting a catch.
"Bad news is, there is no bad news" the guard chuckles to himself. I nod and swallow fairly hard due to lack of water.
"Leave when you're ready" the guard gives a nod and walks away. I groan as I stretch and crack my spine, I stand up and drop the blanket on the floor and give a little cough.I look up to a shy looking girl standing by the door pulling on the hem of her hoodie
"Hi Jai.." The girl softly speaks."Alicia" I grin
