(Y/N) rubbed her eyes as she removed the blankets covering her. She looked at the clock and the time was even barely 1:00 A.M
As she usually do when she can't sleep, she would go outside for relaxation. (Y/N) would stargaze, watch the moon, look at the constellations. The atmosphere add up as the cold breeze brush through her skin, and the sound of silence. Sometimes, even the eerie silence can catch up to her liking
Evening was her favorite. It just sounds quiet, calming, relaxing. Words can't explain how she felt during this moments, but never mind.
She never thought she could love evenings even more. She didn't think it was even possible. Alone, no people walking pass you looking at you weird, no noisy sounds of cars passing in your house, no noisy neighbors, always fighting. She's just alone. No one to bother her, nothing bothering her
"How many times do I have to told you to stay out of trouble? Not to mention what had happen to you previously. It would have been worse if something bad had happened to you. That doctor is always on our way. He'll do everything to make his plan work. Life is not a game or a movie, even people like him can him. That is reality" Shadow's called voice rang into your ear, making your eyes widen in surprise
Was he here the whole time? Or he had just saw you and decided to give you a lecture because you were alone. So no one can hear it?
"Do I need be repetitive in my words? Or you're just plain stubborn? Just what were you thinking? You're not helping at all, if something happened to you, it only causes more trouble. And there, we failed to do our objective because of you. You are only slowing us all down" said Shadow
(Y/N) didn't look at him. She felt like all his words were stuck into her mind, then slowly fading away. Like it was an echo. It hurted. It hurted her. He's right, she was just slowing everyone down.
Rouge also have to look out after (Y/N) to make sure she's not hurt or captured. Sonic have to go with (Y/N) so he can watch her. Knuckles thought of the plan carefully so it would be simple for her and for everything to went accordingly. Everybody was thinking of her safety, and for the first time, even the feeling she wants to feel hurted.
(Y/N) stay silent, and so does Shadow. She felt Shadow's eyes on her. She felt Shadow was looking at her with narrowed eyes, and annoyance in his face. Like what he always does
"Do you hate me?" (Y/N) insensibly asked
It was a brief moment of pause until Shadow reacted. He opened his mouth to say anything, to defend himself. But no words came out.
He never have expected that. Sure, he made her felt that way, and even anyone in his past that way, but no one asked him that. No one but her
It was new for him. For the first time, he couldn't respond back. He didn't knew how to answer her. He stayed silent, looking at the human with questioning and shocked eyes.
"I-i-" (Y/N) felt the uncomfortable silence, realizing what she have done
"It's midnight. Why aren't you asleep?" Shadow asked immediately changing the subject
"I don't know why, but when I can't sleep, I would go outside. Just stargazing and all, hours later I would go sleepy"(Y/N) simply said
"I'm really sorry but," (Y/N) mentally took a deep breath
"Since I already ask it, do you really hate me? The first time we could even 'talk', the first time we just met, you already despise me. Yet, I see Sonic being worried but it's like he had experienced this with you. I know I'm not in the place to ask why. So I'll leave that be" (Y/N) finally asked
