Shawn smiled when he saw Maria walk into breakfast at the hotel. They were currently in Oberhausen, Germany and it was the first day off of the tour. After their first show, Maria had become a natural on stage. She had chemistry with Shawn and the other band members so it was easy to be on stage with them. She did exactly what Shawn had told her to do and simply got lost in the music every night on stage. It was enough to make him almost forget where he was every single night.

She smiled back at him, a light blush forming on her cheeks, and went to get her food. The band all smirked at each other, watching Shawn's reactions to the girl. They all knew he was feeling something for the new guitarist. Truth be told, he wasn't exactly hiding it. "Shawn, why don't you just man up and ask her out?" Eddy blurted out.

The boys laughed at the blush now coating the singer's cheeks. Before anyone could say anything else, Maria took the final seat (which just so happened to be the one next to Shawn). Shawn smiled at her and she couldn't help but smile back. The band smirked at one another before standing. "Well, we have some plans today so..." Mike started,

"We're just gonna go." Dave finished and all three practically sprinted from the room.

Maria raised an eyebrow at the behavior but Shawn rolled his eyes. Way to be subtle, guys. He thought. "Speaking of plans, you got any for today?" Shawn started, turning the conversation to her.

She shrugged. "Not sure. I may just hole myself in my room and binge watch Netflix or something." She answered. "The last few days have been monstrous compared to what I normally do on a day to day basis."

He chuckled. "Yeah. It takes some time to get used to." Maria smiled thankfully. "But come on! You're in Germany for what has to be the first time ever! You should explore!" She bit her lip, thinking for a bit. "What if I went with you?" She straightened up a bit. "Andrew told me about this arboretum type place that might be right up your alley. We could go together and then afterward we can come back and still have the whole night to binge watch."

A smile slowly crept onto her face and she nodded. "Okay. I'll meet you in the lobby in about 10 minutes after I change?" He nodded and she finished up her food before leaving to her room. He had to smile, watching her go. Mendes, you have got it so bad.

Shawn felt his heart stop when he saw Maria. He loved seeing her in her concert outfits but he couldn't help but love it more when she was in her natural clothes. She was wearing an off-the-shoulder white sweater with the sleeves partially covering her hands and a studded black denim vest over it. She had black leggings on, black combat boots, and a Stitch mini backpack. She blushed when she caught his gaze. "Do I look okay?"

"You look amazing." He said honestly. Her blush darkened and he held out his hand. She cautiously took it and he squeezed it in a sign of comfort. She smiled thankfully at him. He led her to the car waiting for them outside and told the driver where they were headed.

Maria felt like a kid in a candy store as they walked around Kaisergarten. Shawn was right. It almost had an arboretum feel to it with a few things extra, like the animals that walked around the different places and the slinky design bridge they had. Shawn, on the other hand, felt his attention being drawn to the girl that walked beside him. He loved the way her eyes lit up at something she found interesting and it was amazing to see her come out of her shell like this.

Suddenly, she gripped his arm in excitement. "Shawn, look!" She pointed into one of the open enclosures. He looked to where she was pointed saw a small pack of wolves circled around each other.

She rushed over and knelt down next to the fence to get a closer look at the pack. One of the pups took notice of her and slowly approached her. She gently placed a hand on the fence and let out a small gasp when the pup started sniffing it and nuzzling it a bit. Shawn smiled at the scene, slipping his phone out. He snapped a few pictures of her and the pup before she stood, squealing quietly.

She waved bye to the small wolf and went back to Shawn. "Did you see that??" She questioned excitedly. "It was so cute I thought I was gonna die!"

Shawn chuckled at her excitement, taking her hand once again. He noted with some pride that she didn't flinch or even suck in a sharp breath at the touch. As they walked, he thought of the scene with her and the wolf pup. He couldn't help but think of how much she had in common with the small animal.

Both were seen as a symbol of strength but were still vulnerable to the world around them. He pulled Maria closer to him slightly and she looked up at him. He simply smiled at her and she smiled back before ducking her gaze to hopefully hide her blush with her hair. They came across one of the small vendors that were dotted around the park. "Something pretty for the lady?" He called out to Shawn with a smirk, gesturing to the jewelry laid out on the table.

A dark blush coated Maria's cheeks and she began stuttering, "No... we're not... I'm not..."

Shawn was about to explain when a silver ring caught his eye. He smirked. "Actually, yes." She looked at him in shock. He stepped forward and pointed to the ring. "I'll take that one."

The vendor smiled at the superstar while Maria's blush darkened over her shocked face. "Very nice choice." He said kindly. Shawn handed him the money, telling him to keep the change and the vendor handed him the ring. He leaned in to whisper to Shawn, "Take care of that one. She has a good heart." He looked over to the wolf enclosure, obviously having seen her with the pup.

Shawn smiled. "Trust me, I know." He thanked the man and turned back to Maria.

"Shawn, you didn't..." She started but he cut her off.

"No, but I wanted to." He smiled at her. She prayed he couldn't hear her heart beating like a hummingbird's wing in her chest. He took her left hand and gently slipped the ring onto her middle finger. "Perfect fit."

She cracked a small smile at him before looking down at the ring. He was sterling silver with an open design on it. The ring showed a silhouette of two older wolves howling at the moon with a smaller wolf in between them, imitating the two. She smiled at the design before interlocking her fingers with Shawn's. She let out a small giggle at the blush now tinting his cheeks.
