I was walking home, it wasn't far from here so I was thankful for that. As I was walking I had my head down and my eyes glued to my phone. I was texting Daniel and asking him if he'd like to go on a date tomorrow so I can tell him the important news.

I was texting out the plan and time when I felt my body collide into something bigger than me and harder. I gasped and put my hands out in front of me pushing the thing in front of me away causing me to drop my phone. I ended up pushing not only the thing in front of me but myself backward. I reached my arm out hoping to grab something but instead, something or someone grabbed me. I was quickly pulled back up to my feet but stumbled forward. I again collided with the person in front of me but put my hands up quick enough to catch myself on their chest.

"I-I'm so sorry!" I muttered out and stepped back. I looked up to be met with the familiar curly haired brunette I thought was my friend.
"Jesus Christ, can you do anything right?" He grumbled as he took his earbuds out of his ears. I just furrowed my brows and crossed my arms annoyed by his comment and making it visible to him.

As I was glaring at him I couldn't help but notice him breathing heavily. I looked down to see him in plain black basketball shorts and a grey t-shirt with the sleeves cut off showing his strong arms. He had sweat around the collar of his shirt and looking back to his face it was glistening in sweat, making some curls in his hair stick to his forehead. Something about him looking like this was kinda hot even though he was a tremendous asshole.

"Wow, you can't even pay attention to me, instead you degrade me by checking me out." Shawn huffed.
"I-I was not!" I denied as I felt my cheeks burn. I quickly crouched down and grabbed my phone from the ground not wanting him to see me flustered.
"Really?" He questioned as I stood back up, taking a step closer, only making me take one back. He stepped forward once more but before I could step back again he quickly wrapped an arm around my lower back preventing me from moving. Shawn then lifted his available hand and held me by my chin with his index finger and thumb. I swallowed hard as I looked up into his eyes.

"You know what I do to naughty liars like you." He spoke seductively in a low voice as a smirk grew on his face. I then felt my entire face burning.
"W-What...?" I questioned not fully sure if I wanted the answer. Shawn just slowly leaned his face in but stopped a mere inch away from mine, I felt his warm breath hitting my lips.

"I punish them by-"
"Shawn!" A voice cut him off. I gasped out of shock and jumped back out of Shawn's grasp and away from him. He just looked annoyed as he turned around. I looked behind him and saw Aaliyah jogging our way. I felt an instant wave of regret and disgust wash over me. Why the fuck did I let Shawn do that?! What was I thinking?! I wasn't!

I quickly took this moment to walk past Shawn and towards Aaliyah. As I approached her she smiled wide at me.
"Hi, Leila!" She cheered as she held open her arms. I just gave her a small smile in return as I walked into her arms, wrapping my own around her.
"I missed you my littles." I nervously laughed as we hugged.
"Not so little anymore, I'm kinda a teenager now." She laughed as we pulled away but held one another's hands.
"Oh please no matter what you'll always be my little Aaliyah." I smiled at her.
"Aaliyah hurry up!" Shawn said. We both looked over to see him crossing his arms and pouting like a huge kid.
"Shut up!" Aaliyah yelled at him as she furrowed her brows at him. I just chuckled and shook my head looking back up.
"Go on, before he starts crying." I leaned in close whispering. She just laughed.
"It was so good seeing you." She smiled at me.
"You too," I said as I released her hands. She then jogged past me and caught up to Shawn. I watched as they started jogging together. While they jogged away Shawn looked back at me and shot me a cold glare.

What the actual fuck?

Once I got home I drug myself into my room and dropped my purse on the floor before throwing myself on the center of my bed laying on my back. I inhaled deeply and let it out as a loud groan.

What's wrong with me? Why'd I let Shawn do that to me? Daniel is my world now but something about Shawn... He was being so cruel but at the same time so seductive... Wait. What am I thinking about?!

I put my hands over my face as I felt it burning out of embarrassment.

"I love Dan," I whined.
"Lele?" A small voice called from my doorway. I quickly moved my hands and propped myself up on my elbows to see Drew standing there at the entrance of my room.
"Hey. What's up?" I asked.
"Are you really going away for a year?" He asks as he walks in.
"Afraid so, buddy." I frowned at him I watched as he walked towards me, I adjusted myself so I was sitting upright and held my hand out to him to help him up. He accepted my offer and took my hand pulling himself onto my bed and sat directly across from me.

"Will you come to see me and mom?" He asks.
"I think so. I think it's up to Shawn." I shrugged.
"Oh good! I think if you ask him nicely he'll bring you back, he's really nice, I like your ex-boyfriend." He smiled.
"He's not my ex-boyfriend." I laughed shaking my head.
"Well he looked at you like how Dan looks at you and he's your boyfriend right?"
"What? Drew what are you talking about?" I furrow my brows.
"Shawn looked at you all funny, like when Dan looks at you funny." Having no idea what he was talking about I brushed it off.
"Ok, anyway did you have a nice time talking to Shawn? He was being nice to you?" I ask a little concerned how Shawn might have treated him, by what I saw Shawn was being nice to Drew but I don't know what happened literally behind my back, I was watching mom and Karen most of the time, not really paying any mind to Shawn.

"Yeah! He listened to my story about the kid who accidentally ate soap and burped out that huge bubble!" Drew explained. He's told that story to me and mom a million times but somehow coming from him never gets old.

"Leila, who else is going to take care of me while you're gone?" He asks.
"What?" I asked unclear of what he meant.
"Can mom really take care of me by herself?" He asks.
"Of course she can, Drew. Why would you ask me something like that?" I asked.
"I heard you talking to mom about it." He shrugged. I just sighed and hung my head.
"I was just being grumpy, Drew. Mom's more than capable of helping you with your asthma," I said reaching out and holding his small hands in my own.

"That's good." He said looking down at his inhaler.
"Just try not to give her a hard time." I smiled down at him. He looked back up at me and smiled in return.
"Now, go on. I gotta finish packing for a whole year!" I exclaimed.
"Ok, I love you, Leila." He said as he started climbing down.
"Love you too, kiddo." I smiled weakly, already missing him before I leave. I watched as he took a puff from his inhaler before turning and walking out of my room.

As soon as he left I heard a dig from my phone. I quickly reached into my back pocket and grabbed it. I looked at the screen to see a new text from Daniel. I slid my finger across the screen unlocking it and opened the message.

"Tomorrow will be perfect for a date, my love. Can't wait. :)" He sent. I just sighed as I felt a slight sting in my eyes at the thought of having to leave my family, friends and my boyfriend who I loved so much.
