We're in the car driving to my house. I don't know how this is going to go but I know Dad won't be home in like...two hours? At the most that is.

I was fine with them meeting her. They weren't homophobic. She was a good kid. Mom would like her.

We were quiet. Man, I really fucked things up didnt I? I started to feel bad that I was just dragging her there even though she didn't want to.

"I don't feel like putting on an act today yah know?"

Ha..never mind.

"Listen, if I would disobey, I would die. I'm just going to leave it there partner."

"Tsk. That's an overstatement."

"Its really not." I chuckle out looking at her away from the stirring wheel.

She glanced at me and then looked away.

I sigh. "I don't want to do this either but," I pull up to my house and park. "I don't want my ass beat."

"Beat?"

We go silent.

I look away but then I feel her hand rest on my leg. "Hey." I look at her and she is smiling warmly.

Woah

I don't know if it was just the moment but, she looked really good there. I didn't say anything and I just looked in her eyes.

"Don't be sorry. It must be personal."

She was spontaneously sweet. Its weird.

"Alright. Let's...let's get out."

We both get out of the car and head inside. We are greeted to my mom looking happy and smiley. "Afternoon girls!"

Yup. She's high.

She walks over to lush and grabs both sides of her cheeks to examine her.

"Aww you are so pretty!!!"

Lane forced out a smile. "Same goes to you!" I could tell she was really uncomfortable.

"Mom! Personal space." I snapped. She glared at me but let go of Lane. She leans on the counter. "So, tell me about yourself."

She looked at me worried but I gave her a reassuring look. She nods. "Well, my dad is a pastor, I go to the same school as Izzy; obviously, let's see,"

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no. How about something more personal? I want you to feel comfortable here."

Comfortable? My house stinks like weed and alcohol, the place is a mess, my mom is high, and she barely knows the people that live here, aside from me. Good luck with comfortable.

"Uh...?"

"Oh come on! Its girl talk!" She has no idea what she is saying.

"I'm gay....?"

"OOO! EXCITING~" she glanced at both of us. "Are you two....?"

"No!" I blurted out. Lane blushes a bit and clears her throat. "I'm just a good friend of hers." Lane clarified.

"Oh well 'friends' you call it these days could have benefits or partner in crime..Oh! That reminds me of the days back in my high school when me and my girlfriends would ride off and...."

Mom rambles for a bit. Lane seemed like she was blocking mom out. Her eyes are focused on the thing behind mom. It really stood out. I followed were her eyes were looking until I see it.

Dads gun rack.

Lane POV

Izzy's mom kept on rambling. I take a look at her hair rapped with a bandana. Soon my eyes land on a gun rack.

Its like I couldn't even hear her talking anymore. I just see the guns right there.

I really want to use one.

I continue to stare scrolling through all of the possibilities in my mind.

pow pow pow

I could make those sounds. I could-

My thoughts were interrupted by my name being called.

"Lane? Lane?"

I snap out of it.

Isabel's POV.

She makes eye contact with mom again. "Yeah?" She said. Her mom stared for a bit.

"Anyways ladies, I must use the bathroom. Make yourself at home!" Then she leaves to the bathroom.

I turn to Lane. "Good job, sport." She rolls her eyes and looks around and walks around.

She walks to the gun rack. "These guns are killer." She opens up the glass door sheilding the weapons.

I stop doing whatever I was doing and watch her. "What are you..."

She takes a gun out and points it at me. "WOAH WOAH WOAH! PUT THAT DOWN!!!" She chuckles.

"Calm down." She pulls the gun down.

"Dude! Thats not something you play with!" We make eyecontact and smirk at each other.

"Hey mom I'm going out!" I yelled.

"Do you girls want a snack?" She shouts back. I ignore her and walk off with lane to her car. We get in and drive off.

"To the forest?"

"To the forest."
