We left the hotel in the morning. I'm in the car next to her controlling the radio, while she drives.
I check where we are and it says las Angeles. So close...
Relief passes over me. We can live in California and call it a day.
Lush is singing along to the music and its calming for me. Nothing bad can happen. Why? Because she is my partner. We can get through this. I mean, we've made it this far.
One thing that made us closer was that little interaction we had last night at the hotel.
It was just a little kiss. It didn't go farther than that.
We aren't a couple
We aren't together
We are a team
She is my partner
"Hey babe, can you turn up the radio?"
......
UMMM????
WHAT?!?
She laughs. "What's so funny?" I growl.
"You should've seen your face!"
I blush a bit. I shove her and smile.
"Chill out, Omy."
"It didn't mean anything!"
She frowns a bit and rolls her eyes. "Yeah, yeah."
Did it mean something to her?
I turn up the radio and we jam out some more.
After that, we caused some more trouble again.
I ran in, stole a gun, ran out, and now they are mad.
"Lush! Start the car!" I jump in and she takes off. I stick my middle finger out the window and we were gone.
We shout for joy as we are speeding.
"We did it! Victory to us!"
"Hell yeah!"
We laugh together. She leans over and gives me a kiss on the cheek.
Oh...
Oh...
O h....
Okay...
But before we knew it, she had taken her eyes off the road and had crashed into a pole.
Great...
"Shit!" She yelled as she slammed her hands on the wheel. The car was still and the front was banged up.
I started to laugh historically.
She looks at me and glares."Its not funny..."
"It- It was kinda funny!" I said between laughing.
Soon there was silence and we were just sitting there. Smoke was coming from the roof of the car and we just watched.
The desert surrounded us. We were basically in the middle of nowhere.
She grabs her phone and looks something up.
"What are you..."
"we need to make it to Cali. We can't stop here so, I'm calling for help."
A moment of silence passes before she says,"Like a good neighbor-"
"NO! Anything, but that..." I cut her off.
Her phone vibrates. As she looks at it, her eyes widen.
Then my phone vibrates.
Amber Alert...
My mom told the cops that we went missing?
"She doesn't know what we look like now or what we are doing so..." I say.
"What if we get caught?!? That's a lifetime of fucking prison! You...you killed-"
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT!" I scream at her.
She frowns at me and breaths deeply. She rests her hand on my leg. I smack it off.
"Don't."
"But-"
"Just don't." I push her away.
A few moments pass. "We can fix the truck. We are far away from home, so it will be impossible to find us."
I look out the window and sigh. "That license plate..."
"We can take it off."
I know she is trying to make me feel better but....I'm panicking.
What would they do to us?
I want to correct my mistakes. But I know I can't.
I don't want to live like this.
I never wanted to.
I never wanted to kill.
Killing and having someone out of your life are two different things.
Having someone out of your life means that they can just disappear in thin air. Yet, if he wasnt here I wouldnt be alive. Maybe that would be better anyways.
Killing is taking a life and ruining yours.
I have the worst life.
How could it possibly get better from here?
She makes the phone call and it soon comes to an end.
"Fifty minutes till they get here" she States.
I slouch down and silently cry. When lush would try to comfort me, I would push her away like before.
I get out of the car.
"Where are you going?" She yelled.
"I...I just need a moment" and I'm off alone.
