Sarah’s Point of View

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I stare at the bag on my bed. The door is locked with a silencing charm on it, leaving me to focus. Ron’s not home; he’s at work. The kids are next door.

This is my chance.

Do I leave? If I do, do I leave a note, explaining my absence? I’ve lost my family once to dark wizards; I don’t want to do it again.

But I’ve walked out on everybody before. Nineteen years ago I left, barely leaving an explanation for anyone. Do I have the heart to go it again?

“Hey, Sarah,” a very familiar voice says behind me. I exhale a deep breath before turning around.

”Hi, Harry,” I simply reply.

”Ginny thinks I’m at work. I’ve left a note at my desk; it’s the first place they’ll look for me.”

“I can’t do this, Harry,” I say shakily, tears already trying to force their way down my face.

”If we don’t, they’ll kill our families. They’ve been patient enough. I told you, Lily was almost abducted in Diagon Alley! This is serious now!” Harry tries reasoning with me, his face becoming grim.

“I did think someone was following me around yesterday in the Ministry, when I brought the kids to visit Ron at work…” I recall the memory.

A figure wearing a black cloak seemed to always come into my line of vision yesterday. The hood was up high, shielding all of this person’s features.

It doesn’t matter what they looked like, though. They could have used Polyjuice Potion, or a disfiguration spell for all I know.

But whatever the case, I felt this person’s eyes on me.

“It won’t be forever, Sar. And I’ll check up on them often.”

“How?” I ask, tears prickling my eyes.

“Phineas Nigellus Black is how,” he says. “There’s a portrait of him in Grimmauld Place, and then there was another frame in Hogwarts that he could also appear in. I went to Hogwarts the other day and explained our situation to Professor McGonagall. She promised to keep it a secret, and gave me the portrait. Phineas said he’d check up at Grimmauld Place whenever needed.”

”And what about my family, Harry?” I cry.

”I’ll have Phineas conspicuously ask Ginny about them. It’ll be fine; it’s for the best.”

“Where’s the Harry that sought out his enemies? The one who’d never leave when there’s danger?” I joke.

He becomes serious. “That’s when only my life was on the line. Now, I have a wife and three kids that are easy targets.”

I nod. “Should I leave a note?”

“Ron deserves an explanation, no?”

”True.”

“When we’re wherever we go, I wanna try and find out who’s doing this, yeah?”

”Yeah, we have to. I can’t believe I’m leaving Ron alone with the kids though! He’ll never be able to work with the two of them home and all.”

”Ginny doesn’t work; she can help out while Ron works. It’ll all be okay in the end, I promise,” he says, pulling me into a hug. “Now write Ron a note, because I’m supposed to be home from work in ten minutes.”
