Ron’s Point Of View

“Daddy,” Emily says to me softly. It’s been about an hour since I left Ginny’s home with my kids, and now we were all sitting in the living room of our home. “Where’s mummy?”

The kids know she left—and Harry left—but they don’t know why. Ginny and I decided it wouldn’t be a good idea to just tell our young children that people are trying to kill us. Ginny said that she told Lily that Daddy (Harry) was away on a business trip. Sarah doesn’t work any more, so I can’t use that excuse.

“Emily, Bella,” I address both of my kids. Bella looks up from her coloring book to me. “Mummy and I had a fight. A bad fight. Mummy just decided to leave the house for a little bit, so she could clear her head,” I lie to them.

I lied to my children.

“Is Mummy going to come back?” Bella asks, quirking her eyebrows at me.

“Of course she will, Bella,” I force a smile to her. I walk over to her and give her a hug.

“Why is Aunt Jessie here?” Emily now asks.

“I needed someone to take care of you while I work,” I explain. Well, it’s not a total lie.

Emily looks at me for a couple of seconds before she quietly gets up and leaves the living room.

She’s smarter than that. My little lie could probably pass on Bella, but Emily? No. Emily’s much smarter than that. She may not know what the truth is, but she sure as hell doesn’t believe my lie.

Bella, on the other hand, will believe me. She’s still at that stage in her life where she may not be sure of what’s going on, but she’ll believe it, just because someone she knows and trusts told her so.

But she won’t believe me for long. Knowing Emily, she’s going to tell Bella the one thing I don’t have the heart to tell her—

The truth.

 Joey’s Point of View

“—and that is what lead to the Elf Revolution back in—“

“Professor Binns,” Headmistress McGonagall interrupts the History of Magic Professor. “May I have Joseph Weasley and Albus Potter for a moment?”

“Yes, of course Headmistress!” Professor Binns replies. “Students, you may be excused,” he says to us. Albus and I look at each other briefly before collecting our books and hustling to follow McGonagall.

Once we get outside, we notice James is also there, looking just as confused as us. Silently, we follow the Headmistress until we reach her office, where we all find seats.
