*~*~ Joey’s Point Of View ~*~*

As my first school year comes to an end, I can feel nothing but sadness.

As little as I want to be in school, with the kilos and kilos of homework and the bullies and curfews and the house competition, I don’t want to go home either. It sounds horrible, I know, but I don’t want go home. To a crying mum, a confused Emily, and an angry dad. I can’t handle that.

I’d rather be all sad surrounded by happy people, rather than sad surrounded by even sadder people. It’s too much.

Am I selfish? I think so. But I accept that. I know I am. And I don’t care.

I pack up everything into my trunk.

Oh, what a horrible school year.

I was bullied the beginning of the school, my sister was kidnapped, and I’m failing at school.

Awesome.

”Hey, Joey,” a very familiar voice says behind me. My cousin Thomas. “Need any help?”

I exhale a loud breath. “No, I don’t think so. You?”

“I’m fine, thanks.”

Neither one of us says anything for a while. After tucking my last item—my Gryffindor scarf—into my trunk, I shut the lid and lock it, dragging it outside my door and onto the pile with the rest of the trunks. Thomas follows my lead, stacking his on mine, and then we both get our owls into their cages.

“Hello ickle cousins of mine!” James chirps, practically skipping into my room.

”Why so happy, James?” I ask him.

“Well, I asked Jenna to be my girlfriend today, and she said yes,” he grins proudly.

I force a smile. “That’s great. Where is she now?”

”Finishing packing up, just like the rest of us. I’d go help her, but, ya know, the charm on the stairs…” he drifts off. “Anyways, I got a letter from my mum. We’ll be arriving in King’s Cross, but instead of going back home, we’ll be going to Scorp’s Uncle Arty’s house.”

“Why?” Thomas asks.

”I dunno. She didn’t say why. Apparently he lives in a huge castle though. Reckon it’ll be fun, eh? Now I best be off; gonna go swipe some treats from the kitchen, so I don’t have to buy stuff off the trolley.”

He leaves the room and I look at Thomas. “Where does Artemis live again?”

“I dunno, Ireland?”
