Today was the day that Gwen would leave for England. Instead of trying to weave my way through the airport, I perched myself on the roof to watch her plane leave.

This was it. My only contacts with Gwen would be through texting, and I was unsure of how available she would be. Besides, I had to let this go.

We didn't talk much before she left. It was extremely awkward, with our crazy relationship. Basically, we had just told each other goodbye and promised to text each other. Then, she was leaving.

Her plane began to roll down the runway. Apparently, her seat was by a window. I wondered if she was watching me. I gave a small wave, and the plane lifted into the air. I watched the plane until it disappeared completely, not even a small dot in the clouds. Even after I could no longer see her plane, I stayed at the airport for a few more minutes before heading home.

Aunt May greeted me in the airport parking lot.

"Hey," she said. "How did it go?"

"It went okay," I replied. "I just can't believe she's finally gone. I don't know what I'll do without her."

"Knowing you, you'll find a way," Aunt May said. "You're such a good person, Peter. Many people look up to you. And hey, maybe you'll find a way to still be with her when she gets back?"

I shook my head. "It's too dangerous. I'm even dangerous to you. I have enemies, and the people I love are the ones who get punished."

"Maybe, maybe not. It's for a good cause, and Gwen only got hurt because she chose to. You aren't a danger to your loved ones because you're Spider-Man. They choose to join in the danger. It's our choice, not yours, so it's not your fault."

"But there wouldn't be any danger if it weren't for me..."

"So you cause crimes? No, you don't cause crimes, Peter. You end them."

I sighed.

"You've saved more people than anyone I've ever known. That should be worth it to you," Aunt May said. "Now get in the car. We've gotta get home."

"Seriously? Cars are a waste of time and money! I'll just get home with my webs..." I complained, quickly interrupted by my aunt.

"Get in the car. Someone's got to drive it, because I'm not leaving it here. And you need some relaxing time anyway."

"Relaxing time?" I chuckled. "Whatever." I rolled my eyes playfully, then slumped into the passenger seat.

I was editing my recent photos when I heard a buzzing sound. It was my cell phone. I had received a text from Gwen.

"Hey, Peter! I made it to Oxford!" It said.

"Great! How is it?" I sent a text back to her. I was overjoyed to hear from her.

"It's really nice here, but it's so strange being around so many people when none of them share my accent." Her text made me smile.

"Well, you are in an entirely different country..."

"I have a feeling I'll be speaking in a different accent when I get back!"

"Just make sure I still know who you are!"

It took a few minutes for her to reply.

"Yeah. Well, I've got to go! I have to do some research...already!"

"Okay. Text me back when you can," I replied.

"I will. Love you!" This is how we've always texted each other. Saying "love you" was an alternative to saying "goodbye".

"Love you too!" I stared at my text for a few minutes before sending it, but finally sent it anyway. Just because we were no longer together didn't mean that we still didn't love each other.

I returned to editing Spider-Man photographs that I'd taken of myself. I planned on selling them to The Daily Bugle, probably for an article giving additional information on Spider-Man's return.

I found it amusing, taking "selfies" and selling them to the newspaper. It almost brought me into a laughing fit that they had no idea. I had control over what Spider-Man pictures were in the newspaper. That was a superpower in itself. It was a good power to have, since J.J. Jameson was against Spider-Man.
