Mithila woke up the next morning and her vision went white, and she fell back on her bed, groaning in pain. Her vision cleared not a second later and she sat back up again, her head and eyes feeling heavy, her nose blocked, and her voice cracking painfully as she cleared her throat.

She turned her neck to her table, and saw her cracked phone staring back at her, the blue light indicating new texts. She leaned over and picked it up, and almost fell off her bed as she looked at the texts;

Amyra

Mithila,

can we talk?

Please?

can you come over to my house at 12?

She looked over to her clock, and sighed at the time, 1:34 pm. She was late by an hour and thirty minutes. She jumped off her bed and made herself look presentable, but her hands quivered for a second before coming to a pause as she did the zipper on her heels; Was it worth it? Was Amyra worth it? And then, her eyes fell on the bulletin board. And just like that, she removed her shoes, her dress, and fell back on her bed, before pulling out her phone and composing a new text;

To: Amyra

Amyra, let's not.

I'm leaving university in three months.

I don't have time for this.

For you.

Bye.

She then pulled the covers over her head and fell back into a dreamless sleep, ridding her mind off all thoughts she didn't need at the moment.

Not Today, Satan. Not Today.

She was woken up by her mother ripping the baby blue covers of her resting body, and continuously smacking her with a cushion, until her arm started to hurt.

"It's three PM and you're still sleeping, get out of my house, Mithila. Find yourself a JOB. Go." She pushed Mithila off the bed who then landed painfully on the floor, face first. "You could've broken my nose." she groaned, holding onto her now red nose. One glance at Mithila and her mother went into a fit on giggles; "You look like Rudolf."

"Who's Rudolf?"

"Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer, Mithila."
