Jade had made a promise to herself that things will change this time. She arrives at the ice cream shop at 7:50 pm, ten minutes early, just so she would be the one waiting for Perrie instead of the other way around. A few years ago, when she was dating the blonde, Jade wasn't in a good place in life. Even though Perrie had helped her a lot, some needed changes were solely up to Jade.

The brunette had a bad, unexplained habit of lying about negligible things for no apparent reason. She remembers her first day as a staff member at the cakery very well thanks to many reasons, and one of them is how bad she felt after lying to her ex girlfriend. Like always, this lie didn't really matter; she told Perrie she stayed up the night before because she was so happy she couldn't sleep, when the truth is that she was watching cake decorating tutorials. She did not lie because she was embarrassed of the truth - Jade always felt like she could say anything to Perrie without being judged. She lied because she was so used to these little deceptions that they somehow turned fun.

As Jade is still busy with her thoughts, she notices a black car stopping in front of the ice cream shop, and the passenger's door opens. There is no way Jade could forget this character; Perrie walks out of the car, looking as gorgeous as she always has. The only change Jade notices is that her blonde hair is shorter, which only makes her appear more fierce. Perrie quickly spots Jade, which makes the brunette fix her hair, even though there's nothing wrong with it. Both women look at each other, but don't say a word until Perrie sits at the table, in front of the princess.

"Hi." the blonde is the first one speak, and the actress realizes how much she had missed her sweet voice.

"Hi," Jade replies. She's very nervous, trying her best not to make things awkward. As silence wraps the two women, she finally manages to think of something to say. "I heard that you wanted to join the foundation." she says with a smile, looking into those blue eyes.

"Of course I did. I was really happy to hear about this enterprise." Perrie replies, adding a shy smile. "It was great, to... To hear from you. What happened a long time ago, is pretty much forgetten, and I just - I miss you as my friend."

"I miss you as well. And I'm sorry for that email from my personal account. You probably figured it out, but I was a bit drunk when I wrote it." Perrie laughs a little, but does not say anything. Jade doesn't want this silence to last long, so she says the first thing that comes into her mind. "Am I invited to the wedding?" The brunette makes herself laugh, but is cringing on the inside and mentally scolds herself for this question.

"If you want to, you will be, of course! But as for now, we haven't really started planning anything. I know this sounds strange - because we have been engaged for a year and all, but..." Her words drift off, and Jade understands this might be a sensitive subject. "I could tell you that we're too busy to plan, because that's what we tell everyone who asks, but it's not the entire truth. So I'm just going to be completely honest with you, because I can't lie to you," Jade's heart somehow manages to beat even faster, and she tries to hide her redding cheeks. "Everything happens too fast, and when he proposed I definitely wasn't ready. But it was at this concert, everyone around us was cheering on me to say yes... And since then, I couldn't find the time to tell him marriage isn't for me yet."

"Oh." is all Jade manages to think. It feels like her brain is on a strike, plus she doesn't exactly want to talk about Perrie's fiancé, because it does hurt. They sit in silence before the blonde decides to finally break it.

"What about you? Any wedding plans soon?"

"Not really." Jade replies, a delicate smile on her face. "I publicly came out about six months ago, but I'm still afraid of dating girls again, even though I want to. There's a huge difference between telling someone something and actually showing it." The princess takes a slow breath as the blonde sends her an understanding look. "This stupid fear makes me feel like the person I need to be with is a girl, which only adds to my anxiety. What I've been through these last few years - it literally feels like I dragged myself out of very dark mud, and managed to eventually stand on dry land. But now... It's like I'm drowning again."

"You're not drowning," Perrie says. "You know what they say, you're exactly where you need to be. The only time you weren't standing on dry land was that day we went surfing." The mention of this day makes both girls burst into laughter.

"Gosh, I was such a pain in the arse that day." Jade says, a wide smile present on her face.

"Just a little bit." The blonde agrees, returning the same grin. "But it was perfect. A perfect day." She almost leans in and gives the princess a quick peck on the lips, but is aware of the ring on her left hand. Jade guesses what's going on in her friend's mind right now, and decides to say something unrelated to avoid the approaching silence.

"Do you want to get some ice cream?" The brunette asks, and a few minutes later both girls sitting at their table again, this time with the frozen treats in their hands. Jade got a scoop of mixed berry in a cup, trying to keep it as healthy and as mature as she can. Perrie, on the other hand, ordered a cone with two scoops of chocolate chip cookie dough in it and two kinds of sprinkles on top.

From Jade's eyes, the sight of Perrie holding her ice cream brings up some almost forgotten emotions. She is reminded of everything she loved in this girl, including her playfulness, which never fails to put a smile on Jade's face. She finally admits to herself she wants this girl as her girlfriend, and will do whatever it takes to achieve it.
