Chapter 1: Jace's Arrival

"JACE!" I yelled as I pulled him into a bone crushing hug.

"Dang woman, have you been working out?" Jace asked. I chuckled.
"Maybe a little." I punch his arm playfully.

"How's Africa?" I asked him.

"Great, how's Hunter?"

"Great. We're having dinner tonight."

"We aren't going to have any fun?"

"Yes, we're going to visit dad, then go do our usually routine."

"I'm going to kick your ass heads up." he says.

"I'm going to make you my bitch." I laugh.
"So are you staying with us or-"

"You guys, please."

"Of course, just don't get mad when you hear moans. I get some every night, all night." I laugh.

"That's not going to hold down my breakfast." Jace says. We start talking about Africa and how he should come back home, until we get to the hospital. We get up to the desk and a woman about my age sees us and puts on a smile. I wonder why she's getting all perked up then I remember Jace is walking beside me.
"How may I help you?" she asked.

"Rachel is it?" I looked at the name tag. "We need to see Stanley Gibson." I tell her. She starts typing in the computer and says, "Room 303." I grab Jace's arm and we start walking to find dads room. We find the room and walk in. Dad looked pale, and weightless. He looked...... Defeated.
"Hey dad." I say. I felt a tear come out my eye.

"Don't cry. I'll be out of here before you know it." he says. I sit down beside him and hold his hand.

"Hey dad." Jace says.
"Hey man. How's my life savor?" he asked.

"I'm great dad. How are you?"

"Never better, since you guys came in the room."

"Where's mom?" I ask.

"She didn't want any arguing so she left." dad explains. It seems like her. She'll avoid the problem and won't handle it. The doctor walked in and said dad needed to rest and we had 5 more minutes.
"I guess doctor knows best." dad chuckled.

"Yeah, your right." I felt another tear come.

"Stop crying. I'll be out of here." He wipes my tear away and turns to Jace. "I love both of you, never forget that."

"We love you too." I said. Jace had a single tear fall from his eye. We walked out of the room and walked to the car in silence.

"Let's go get lunch. We can eat pizza at my place." I say.

"Yeah, pizza at your place." Jace said. I pulled out of the hospital when my phone started ringing. The I.D. said Hunter. So, I answered it.
"Hey babe, what's up?" I asked.

"Just checking up on you." he said.

"I'm good, are you at home?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Can you order a large cheese pizza and a large pepperoni pizza?"

"Yeah, I'll call right now."

"Thanks. Love you."

"Love you too." I hang up the phone and start to focus on the road.

"You didn't tell him I was coming." Jace said, looking hurt.

"Because, he already knows." I laugh. I pulled into the driveway and got out.

"Your not going to help me?" Jace yelled.

"Uh." I tapped my chin like I was thinking. "No." I walked into the house and went straight to the kitchen and got a drink. I started wondering where Hunter was.
"Babe?" I screamed. I walked around the house when I found a note.
Dear Isabelle,
I had to go out and finish our dinner for tonight. I already ordered the pizza, it's coming. Tell Jace hi, and we'll hang out later. I love you. Forever&Always Babe.
"Where's Hunter?" Jace asked.
"He left, so after lunch we can go to the arcade." I say.

There was a knock on the door and I walked over and opened it. It was the pizza guy.
"Hello, the price is $15.78." The guy said. I paid him, then went back to the couch. I grabbed a cheese pizza and started eating.
"How do you afford this place?" Jace asked.

"I'm a lawyer's assistant. I get paid 2,ooo each paycheck. Jace is a doctor for children. You can say we get by." I said.

"Okay, that's good."

"Yeah, you have your doctors degree. You could get your own place."

"Maybe, I just love helping these people."

"It's your life. I'm happy one of us is doing something."

"This game." I said.

"I will whoop your ass in this game." Jace said. I looked at him crazy.

"Yeah okay.'' I say sarcastically. We went to play the dance game. Our last quarters. We spent all day here playing games at the arcade. The song came to an end and I won.
"What, now." I yelled.

"That was luck." he said. I rolled my eyes. I looked at my phone and realized the time. It was 6:00. I have the dinner with Hunter at 8:00. We have to get home.
"Come on. I have my dinner date with Hunter at 8:00." I say.

"Oh I forgot, girls take 2 hours to get ready." he says.

"Shut up and come on." Since the arcade was like 5 minutes from my house, we walked. In no time we were at my house.
