Author's Note

So, apparently I'm elligible to enter for the Watty's!! The story is still a long way from finished though. Do you think I should go for it, or wait? I need to do some major proofing before August if I'm entering!

I also just saw that I'm ranked #322 in the category Chat (it's listed as the stories best ranking). I decided to look and see what that was out of, and seeing some of my rankings amazed me!

#322 of 9K in Chat

#810 of 13.2K in Miraculous.

#602 of  6k in MariChat.

Thank you everyone who has read, commented, and voted for my story! Wow, I never dreamed this silly thing would get so popular! I'm on the verge of tears!

Just FYI, the notes on ranking will be deleted if I enter this in the Watty's, don't wanna seem like I'm trying ta sway judges with the popularity, lol.

Chloe Bourgeois

=====

During the attack by Invisitor, Chloe had been carried to safety by Paon Mystique. She was well aware he had done so at the peril of others; and contrary to her public displays, she had little idea why any hero would find her worthy of such. But the princely peacock seemed to believe in her.

As the battle had continued across Paris,she had remained on her balcony, her eyes locked on the skyline Paon had departed over. Just who was he? Who was this masked boy (man?) that was taking such interest in her, for her?

A soft smile quirked her lips as she thought about the couple of brief encounters they had had. He really didn't seem to want anything from her; nothing besides seeing her try to be nicer, which she wanted to do anyway. With Paon Mystique to help her out maybe she could pull it off.

She glanced at the slip of a drawing in her hand, and knew where she needed to start. Changing her behavior towards Nathaniel would be good. He was trying to give her a chance, and since they were working on a group project together it was a good opportunity. She could work harder to be a better friend toward Sabrina too.

Small steps would be good, but she should try to be nicer over all; particularly toward those she had been the meanest to. Marinette and Nathaniel topped that list..and Kim. She had really hurt him, hadn't she? A sigh slipped past her lips.

"This is going to be a long list..." The mumbled words coincided with a swarm of ladybugs engulfing the areas affected by the akuma attack. The flight of red dots pulled her eyes to the sky. Even the clouds up there didn't seem as far as her need to make amends required her to climb.

After a few moments of letting herself fill with doubt, a figure in blue went gliding over head, "Paon Mystique!"

She had called out to him before she even realized it. Her energy and determination once more refueled by the reminder of his belief in her. His flight path swerved as he gave a smile and a wave of acknowledgement, then he straightened his course and continued on his way.

Heading into her suite once he was out of sight again, the blonde drew a breath and flopped onto her bed. She set the drawing onto her night stand, and pulled out her phone. Pulling up Nathaniel's contact info she paused, staring at the screen a moment, not sure how she should handle what would possibly be an awkward conversation. La Paon Mystique had suggested that the drawing could mean the red head might have (or might think that she would think he had) a crush on her. It would explain why he had raced out of the classroom once she had seen it.
