This isn't me
That isn't you
Yet
Given an identity when we were born
Gender
Name
Race
Religion
And worst of all
Expectations
We have to go through life pretending to be this person we are not
And they expect us to meet those expectations?
But when we dare to try discover who we are they call us names and tell us it's a sin and that it's wrong.
Why?
Why do they do this?
It's easier to understand and easier to box

Like a damned package
I am not a package and it's not wrong
I will cut my hair if I please
I will chose a gender neutral name if I please
I will get a lip piercing if I please
It is not your body and therefore it is not your right to tell me what I can do with mine
And don't you dare use the excuse
"It won't look nice and it won't suit you"
It doesn't have to.
If it doesn't look nice then look away
If it doesn't suit me then look away
I won't miss your judging eyes
It is my choice.
It is my right as a human being.

Tell me to dress pretty and hold up a dress
Frown and shake your head as I hold up a suit
How does one even dress pretty?
When everyone's pretty is different from the next?
You don't.
You don't dress 'pretty' or 'nice'
You dress like yourself.
You'll look amazing in whatever you choose,
Dress or suit
