I gazed out of the window and watched the scenery pass by, listening to my parents conversation; they were discussing swimsuits. I remember how excited I had been when mum told me that we'd be going on a vacation to stay by a beach in a solitary area with no one for company apart from our close family friends the Parks. My heart had pounded at the mere thought of staying in a lovely beach cabin with my ultimate crush, Park Cheol. It warmed me to the core as I thought of his gorgeous face. Cheol was four years older than me but that had never put a stop to our friendship being one of the closest I've ever experienced. We were basically best friends. But of course whenever I got carried away with my fantasizing about Cheol, an annoying and high pitched voice seemed to echo through my head, interrupting my bliss. When I thought of this person my heart also beat faster, not with fondness— oh no —but with unbridled rage.

Park Jimin, Cheol's younger brother who was actually my age, was the most annoying pig of the century. A scowl came to my face as his name rung in my head in the same, persistent way his voice did. Cheol was on a constant mission to bring peace between Jimin and me. Our rivalry had begun years and years ago, thanks to some long forgotten catalyst that set our pettiness in eternal motion. We pranked each other, called each other names, we made faces from across the table, and on more energetic days; wrestling matches. We were rivals, Edward and Jacob, sworn enemies. We were also pitiful. We should be mature teenagers but it's just so hard when someone has the ability to annoy you to the extent of snapping, the way Jimin annoyed me. Half the time I felt like punching him and the other half I felt like ripping his head off. It was safe to say we would never be friendly. We would do anything to see the other person get riled up or embarrassed. This was how our relationship had been for years and this is how it would stay.

We pulled into the long driveway, the car slowly climbing the gentle incline up towards the house. A couple holiday homes were scattered along this hill but it seemed most were all locked up tight. We would probably see few other people around. The familiar sight of a silver Kia alerted me to the fact that the Parks had arrived here before we had.
I helped Mum and Dad carry all of the luggage to the front door before being excused and told to go say hi to the kids aka Cheol, Yun and Hana— Cheol's youngest siblings the twins —and, of course, Jimin. I lugged my bags up the stairs and onto the second floor which consisted only of one huge room with two double beds on the far side of the room nearest the large window and sliding doors and a couple sofas facing a television.

"Not what I was expecting," I muttered.

"Y/n!" Cried two girlish voices who I knew very well.

"Yun! Hana!" I said, dropping my bags and opening my arms wide to hug the two twelve year old girls. The impact of their hugs nearly knocked the air from my lungs and we laughed together for a moment.

"We haven't seen you in ages," Yun said brightly.

"Yeah, it's been like what? Two weeks?" I laughed.
I realize that doesn't sound like ages but we were pretty used to seeing each other on a very regular basis.
