(Recap: Peter was rudely kicked off a mission by Tony because our Irondad is paranoid after Strange told him of the possible truths in his nightmares...you guys probably are too. 😈HehehehahahahAHAHABWAHAHA...)

"Peter?" Bruce softly knocked on the door an hour after that little scene. He had elected to stay at the compound since the Hulk would hopefully not be needed to take down some normal human corporation and...he felt someone needed to be there to reassure Peter. "Hey, bud, it's almost lunch time. Did you want me to order Chinese or something?"

A muffled "sure" was all he got from the other side of the door, but that was fine with him. He understood what it was like to need some alone time.

"Okay, I'll tell you when it gets here, alright?" Bruce told him, trying to burry his worried tone. Peter grunted in acknowledgment. Bruce stood staring at the door for another minute, not sure what else to say or do. He hoped just by being there it would be enough for Peter, but it would obviously take more then that.

He shrugged and turned down the hallway, shouting a Chinese order to FRIDAY on his way. He would talk to the teen when the food arrived. Then they would both be in better moods.

Unfortunately Peter didn't plan on being there when the food guy came to drop his delivery off.

I'm not always in unnecessary danger. If it involves saving someone it's worth it. New York is just as much my neighborhood as Queens is. Except even more innocents live there.

The boy slipped his mask over his tear stained face, not able to think about anything but Mr. Stark's words.

"I don't want to have to babysit you! None of my team need you as a burden out there."

Was that all he was to the billionaire? A burden? Peter didn't think he thought of him that way when he enlisted him to help with the Civil War. Then again he had also told him that he knew before hand that Steve would never hurt him. So he just didn't trust him with the real stuff.

I have to prove myself. I'm not just a useless kid. Then maybe Mr. Stark will trust me.

Peter jumped up onto his window ledge and leaned out carefully. The wind was more of a light breeze and the sky was clear - well mostly. There were some clouds brewing a ways east, but he wasn't too worried about that at the moment.

He checked his web shooters one last time. Check. Mask secure. Check. Suit on and fit. Check. He was ready.

"Karen, is FRIDAY shut down all the way?" He whispered as the breeze lightly touched his masked face.

"Yes, though, I would advise that you reactivate the program and stay in the compound like Mr. Stark ordered you to, Peter."

"Sorry Karen, can't do that," Peter sighed. "I can't do nothing while other people risk their lives."

"I know. You have told me more then once."

Peter felt a small smile slip onto his face. "How many times?"

"Sixteen."

"Wow," Peter smacked himself in the face. Apparently he gave Karen more pep talks (that were more for him) more often then he thought.

He jumped out of the window and landed on the soft grass lightly. Karen warned him once again to stay on the premises, but he ignored her. Peter kept mumbling apologies, not sure what he was saying sorry for. The teen glanced up at the window that went through to the living room. He couldn't see the scientist, but he knew Bruce was there somewhere.
