(^Okay, first of all, I love all the Spideys, but Tom Holland was born to be Peter Parker and you cannot convince me otherwise. People always say he's too young! But Peter is supposed to be young. Anyway, on to the story!)
"You're going to Wakanda?" Ned whisper-screeched. "That's–that's...My god, Peter, you're so lucky!"
Peter grinned sheepishly in the seat across from his best friend. MJ glanced at them curiously and he motioned for Ned to quiet down. He didn't need the entire school to know he was going on a vacation with the rest of the Avengers to the newly 'opened' country.
"Yeah, the King is having a party or something for his mom's birthday and he invited the entire team. Mr. Stark and Ms. Potts are letting me tag along. It's going to be so awesome!"
Ned leaned in, pushing his finished test aside. "You don't think you could get me an invite, do you?"
"I'm sure Mr. Stark wouldn't mind," Peter shrugged. "You already know the whole team. They like you. Remember game night?"
"Are you kidding? That was the most intense twister game ever," Ned laughed softly. The teacher looked up from his book suspiciously and the two boys hurriedly grabbed their pencils to doodle on their papers. You have to at least look like you're doing something in school. When Mr. Aster rolled his eyes and went back to reading, the boys looked at each other again.
"Yeah, I'll ask after school," Peter assured him.
Ned whined impatiently. "Can't you just text him?"
"Oh, yeah," the teenage hero pulled his phone out, carefully hiding it from the teacher. He didn't really need his mobile to be taken away an hour before the end of school.
He sent a quick text to Tony.
Can Ned come to BP's party with us?
Then he shoved it in his pocket to await his answer. The billionaire texted back surprisingly quickly, as if he had been on his phone already.
Sure, just make sure his mom knows we'll be gone for a few days.
Peter chuckled looking at it. Tony would never admit it, but Pete knew that he was afraid of Ned's mother from the last time Ned had been late getting home. Mrs. Leeds had given him an earful, that's for sure.
Sweet thx
Peter flipped his friend a thumbs up and his BFF squealed in excitement. Mr. Aster looked up, annoyance written across his face, and glared at the pair.
"Mr. Leeds, Mr. Parker, I do not care how fast you finish your tests, you are not allowed to talk to friends until everyone has handed theirs in," the teacher gestured toward a basket. Peter grabbed both of their papers and dropped them off, Mr. Aster nodding in approval.
Ned and Peter had to wait anxiously for a whole hour until the bell rang. When it finally did, the boys were up out of their seats faster then MJ could say bye. Waves of kids drove them through the hallways and out the front doors where Peter waited for Ned to call his mom. A minute into the conversation, Ned's expression dropped.
"But–" he complained. "Mom-"
Peter watched him curiously. Ned nodded and said "okay" a few times before hanging up with a pouty expression.
"I can't go."
Peter's mouth fell open. Ned's mother always let them hang out! "Why not?"
"A family reunion," he grumbled. "Or something stupid like that. Sorry Peter."
