Recap: Peters in the middle of a fight with the Goblin, the Avengers are gone, Flash is being nice and MJ and Ned are on their way to the fight. *rubs hands together* Hold on to your seats.)
Peter was done. Or he would have been if he allowed himself too. But with the innocents fearful looks on the sidelines, he was plenty motivated. Even if he couldn't see straight and his mask was ripped half off. And ignoring the fact that he couldn't hear from one ear. Also that his nose felt like a river of blood and he was pretty sure he lost a tooth. Other than that he was perfectly fine.
Yep. Everything was fine.
The Goblin smirked at his efforts that had turned out futile. Did this guy even get tired? Seriously Peter had got some pretty good hits in and he looked fine! Had he become invulnerable in prison or something. Jesus, Peter hoped not. Normal Goblin was bad enough.
Yet the arachnid stood before him waveringly, clutching his right elbow that wouldn't stop buzzing. Now was not the time to hit his funny spot. Was that even what it was called. He didn't know anymore.
Peter spat blood from his ripped mask and glared up at the Goblin. "That all you got? Cause y'know if you're getting tired we can call it a day..."
"Not particularly, bug," he responded, the teen's humor not at all wasted on him.
Peter's spider sense gave him just enough time to glance behind him before the Goblin glider hit the small of his back, pitching him foreword. The arachnid yelled in surprise and pain before his head slammed on the ground, abruptly cutting him off.
He was confused and disoriented when his legs didn't follow. Maybe the glider cut them off, he thought drunkenly, resisting the urge to giggle. His spider sense one again brought him back to sanity as he rose into the air as if levitating until hit head was a foot above the ground. He twisted around and felt his feet caught before he saw the Goblin holding him up in front of the monster's face. The Goblin chuckled.
I'm seriously going to punch him if he does that again...Peter tried to think threateningly. He sounded more like a lazy teenager, even to himself.
"If you're getting tired..." the Goblin rumbled menacingly. "I can kill you now and not do this ever again."
Peter only glared silently, all jokes ran out of him but pale fear and exhaustion.
Well, almost all jokes. "Aw, but I thought we had a pretty good thing going here."
The Goblin bared his teeth and raised an electric gloved fist. Peter flinched but didn't make any other move to dodge it. After all, how could he? The boy was quite literally in the villain's grasp. Blood ran back up his nose making him cough hard. His jaw ached. He was officially finished. Done with life. It had never really been nice to him anyways.
The Goblin didn't move for a few seconds, rethinking his decision. His gloved fist went down and his bare hand went up to Peter's unprotected mask. That's when he really started struggling.
"Hey, I know we're making progress here but I don't think we're ready to take that step-" it came out a little slurred and he had to shut himself up when he started hacking blood. That was a great sign. The Goblin seemed to find his self destruction amusing. He pinched the edge of his mask and started to pull it up...
But he didn't make us past Peter's nose. A large red brick flew out of nowhere and conked him on the head, causing it to jerk to the side. The Goblin roared in outrage and both the hero and the villain twisted to face the monster's would-be attacker.
