(I just reread the last part...and I realized I end the cliffhangers the same a lot...so I'm gonna work on that!
Recap: It's Halloween and Peter was on house arrest due to an old enemy escaping and planning to come after him. The Avengers went to hunt him down, leaving the arachnid behind. Sucks for them cause Peter left anyways...he's never done good with house arrest.)
Peter had barley made it to Times Square before he was called down to the sidewalk by a passing...fan? Imposter? Who knows. Well, Peter did as soon as he heard the guy in the Spider-Man costume's voice. It took all his will power not to groan out loud and whip a punch out at the costumed teen.
"Spidey!" Flash waved from the sidewalk. He seemed to have just came out to the rutty apartment building to the left, which surprised Peter. Flash had always acted like a rich snob, so the thought of Flash earning his way into Midtown Tech with a scholarship surprised him.
Peter dropped down next to him, trying very hard to ignore their palable height difference. He didn't seem to be in distress. "Flash, what do you want?"
"Shhhhh, Spidey!" He put a finger to his mask in a quiet gesture. "You're gonna give away my secret identity!"
Peter crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow under his own mask. "Do you need something? If you hadn't heard, the Goblin broke out of prison and it's my job to-
"Why am I even telling you this?" Peter sighed and shook his head. "If you haven't seen him I have to be going."
Flash stepped back in fear with a gasp. What? Peter hadn't been that harsh! He rolled his eyes and reached an arm out to stick a web to a building and swing away, but was stopped by Flash screaming at him.
"Spidey look out!"
Then he lunged forward, tackling Peter to the ground just in time for a small projectile to land right where he had been standing. He barley had a second to look at it, but even he wasn't dumb enough to not recognize it. A green and black pumpkin bomb. His spidey sense finally screamed at him, though a little late.
Then the bomb exploded. Peter swore loudly and threw Flash away so that he would take the blunt of the fire. The force of it threw him backwards right into some poor guy's car. The metal crunched under him and three windows blew out, spread glass everywhere. A few cut into his mask, arms and back but the rest of him seemed to be protected.
His ears rung and his vision blurred as his collapsed to the ground. He winced that the sharp little pieces under him and the brand-new pain in his back and head. People were screaming and there was a lot of movement as they made a mad rush to get away. A car flipped near him and Peter lay in a painful heap, unable to do anything about it.
Someone called his name. Well, not Peter Parker's name, but Spider-Man's. They sounded a bit frantic. Peter groaned and rolled to his side, pushing the ground away with his hand until he was standing unsteadily. He held onto the car for support as he rubbed the ringing away and blinked his vision clear.
"Spidey!" Flash whisper-yelled from behind the car Peter had accidentally destroyed. He poked his head out comically, eyes wide. "You okay man?"
Peter grunted in acknowledgement. He had just been saved by Flash Thompson. Technically he had saved the bully afterward, so they were even, but still...owing your forever bully your life wasn't a good feeling. He, on the other hand, was looking at Peter like he was a living legend. Wow, he really was a fan.
Dark chuckling drew his attention to the sky. The light hum of a hover bat blanketed the mostly empty street. They were about a block away from Times Square, so it was almost ghostly to see everything so empty. Peter's only reassurance that people hadn't deserted the city was the few peaking eyes from behind curtains in the apartments above.
