Amarisse
I walked back up the bluff thinking about how the night had unfolded. I sighed, I had actually thought he was going to kiss me. I'd hoped for it.
When his lips brushed mine, I truly thought my body would catch on fire. I felt electricity everywhere he had touched. My waist, my face, my back. It was consuming.
As I was walking the path towards the estate, I thought of my best friend Naomi, a water fae like myself. We had known each other since we were babies, but we grew very close when we were 5. Her mom got sick, it was really hard on her and her family so one day I invited her to have a sleepover. We stayed up all night, baked cookies, watched movies and laughed. After that it became like a tradition that she would come over and stay the night once a week, every week. It stayed that way all throughout grade school, only stopping once we started taking over our parents responsibilities.
I hopped in the shower washing off the day, the smell of my shampoo relaxing me. I didn't stay in as long as I would have liked, because I had a plan.
I threw on some sweatpants and a t-shirt, not my normal attire and definitely not something I would normally go out in, but I didn't care.
I walked just past the grounds of the estate where Naomi lived with her dad and sister. I hoped that I wouldn't be waking them. I knocked quietly on the door, not sure if I would get an answer. I was about to turn around when the door was thrown open and Naomi came barreling out. She wrapped her arms around me tightly, squealing.
"I can't believe you're here, I was just thinking about you!" She said loudly in my ear. I grinned, excitement flowing through me. I felt like I was 5 again.
"Me too, I was hoping you weren't busy so that I could steal you for a sleepover. You know, like we used to do." I smiled, still not letting go of her. She laughed.
"Absolutely, let me just go grab my stuff. Come on inside, Dad will be glad to see you. Ollie too!" I smiled thinking of the little red-headed Olivia with freckles and both front teeth missing. The girl who rushed through the hallway was definitely not that same little girl.
"Mari!" she squealed, pushing Naomi out of the way, earning a huff from her sister. "I missed you so much!" She grinned at me with her perfectly straight white teeth.
"I missed you too, Ollie!" I ruffled her hair a bit, earning an eye roll.
Naomi's father walked through with a smile on his face. "It's so good to see you." He greeted me warmly.
"You as well." I smiled back. Naomi came back through the hall with a small bag in hand. Her father didn't even ask where she was going because he already knew. He kissed the top of her head and Ollie gave me a big hug before we left.

"Oh my goodness!" she squealed as I started to tell her about Drake. "Who are you?" We both started to giggling.
