Amarisse
I woke up gradually, which was very unusual for me. My mornings are normally rushed with getting dressed, breakfast and getting to lessons before father went ballistic. I got up and threw on some shorts and a big shirt, one of my brother's, and then grabbed my sketchbook and things. I was heading to the spot, but I had to grab breakfast first.
I walked into the kitchen, grabbing some fruit and a cup of yogurt.
"Darling, are you heading out?" I expected my father's words, but they were my mother's.
"I was going to go draw, but I needed breakfast. Will you stay and eat with me?" She smiled, one that I reflected back. I took that moment to take in how beautiful my mother was. Her hair was brown and her features were soft, like mine with brown eyes similar to Adam's. Adam looked more like my dad, though, with very sharp masculine features and hair as black as night.
"Did you hear me, Darling?" She asked, still smiling at me. I shook out of my thoughts.
"I'm sorry, I was lost in thought." She laughed, and I laughed with her.
"I actually talked your Father into a day off, all of us are going to have a picnic next to the lake, near the bluff. How does that sound?" Her smile completely covered her face.
"That sounds like a dream." I whispered, still smiling. My mother nodded, her smile still not leaving her face.
"Come on, let's eat breakfast." We sat down for the first time in a while. We laughed and talked, and it was amazing.
"So you were going out to draw?" She asked me as we finished up our breakfast.
"I was." I nodded.
"Well don't let me keep you any longer. We'll meet you out there in a couple of hours." She waved me on, I shook my head.
"No, I want to stay here, with you." Her smile returned.
"I'm going to spend some time in the gardens before we go. I want you to do something you love on your day off." She smiled, she was every bit the Earth Fae. "But don't forget your bathing suit, because we're spending the whole day at the lake, and you can show me what your Father has taught you about your gift." I beamed at her.
"Okay, I'll see you at lunch. We can meet at the lake!" I said, kissing her cheek. She kissed mine too, and grabbed a bottle of water.
"I'm going to change and head out. Have fun, my love! I'll see you at lunch." She hugged me tight. I hugged back, equally as tight.
"I love you so much!" I whispered into her hair. I felt her smile.
"You don't know how lovely that is to hear, I miss hearing it. I love you too, darling!" She squeezed me one last time and headed upstairs towards hers and my father's bedroom.
I walked down the path towards the forest. I hoped he would be there. I stopped for a moment, enjoying the end of winter sunshine. Soon it would be spring, and the flowers would bloom and everything would be bright with color and alive from every single angle. It was surprisingly warm, and the wind chill was nonexistent.
I walked to the clearing, to the rock, and sat down and started to draw the trees. I got lost in the moment, glancing up at the trees and deeply breathed in the fresh air.
When I looked back down at my page, I had drawn him. His face, his neckline, all in intense detail. Except his eyes. His eyes had no color and I closed my eyes and imagined that night we were together, but nothing came to mind.
Maybe it was because it was so dark, but all I could imagine was black. I made them dark and reflecting, which perfectly contrasted with his hair and pale skin.
