Hello and welcome to the first review of this book.
Name: The Crown
Gender: Drama, Historical
Years: 2016 to now.
Number of seasons: 2
Number of episodes: 20
Description:
The show follows the story of Queen Elizabeth II, from her marriage until today.
Personal opinion:
I'm only on episode 9 of season 1. I was supposed to finish it this week, but freaking internet had to ruin this. Anyway, so far the show is actually surprisingly good. At first, I thought it might be like Victoria, which I will be talking about later on. But, it's very good. I think it really manages to show everything as truly as possible, not involving any non-existent, witch-y drama like The White Queen or Reign. It's pretty credible, while still staying exciting all the same. They really put the right amount of Drama to make an eye-catching show, while still not going out of proportion.
Though, I have to admit it's not for everyone. I, personally, love court, royal and political drama so I really don't get bored. I can watch a show like that for a long time, but someone not as interested in these might get bored to death. So far, there isn't a lot of action.
If you want to ease your way in liking history without getting bored, I would advise you start with a show like Reign, then see.
But if you're fan of court drama, go right ahead, all in all it's really good. It also gives a very good insight on how people lived in the 20th century, on 20th century UK, and on after war politics between the UK and the rest of the world. Which, if you're a non-British who still likes British history like me, this is a jewel.
I would also say it's very well shot, very good locations and if they used green screens, you can't actually feel it while watching.
As well as the actors, they're awesome. Claire Foy plays her role well, and you really learn to attach yourself to her.
I might update this as I watch, but so far it's a very, very good, though not for everyone.
If you watched it, what did you think of it?
