"Because I'm the kind of girl who fantasizes about being trapped in a library overnight." ~ Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl.
In this book, I will be ranting, fangirling and reviewing books, TV series, movies, etc.

So recently I have started a new period drama. Which, by the way, period dramas and historical fiction are the best inventions ever made😌
And I have come across many reviews which have angered me a bit, but we'll talk about that later.
Now if you don't know, The Spanish Princess is a short serie of 8 episodes (now extended to a second season, so 16 episodes), and it talks about Catherine of Aragon, wife of King Henry VIII, in her early days at the English court, when she was still young. It is based on the book series by Philippa Gregory, and is a continuation of two series: The White Queen and The White Princess.
Now, can we just take time to admire the handsomeness of Ruairi O'Connor, who plays Harry (whom is futur King Henry VIII)

So anyways, my personal opinion is as comes. The series is very well made with amazing locations, costumes and actors. It's perfect and the spanish accents are on point. And I love how the actors play both in English and in Spanish when needed. I personally think it's thrilling, and I never got bored of it even though I've, as usual, done research and read the history😅
Now here is finally the ranting part. I've read a few comments saying how boring it is, how it's not for history buffs and you shouldn't watch it. Well it's not supposed to be for history buffs, it's a freaking historical fiction book. The major events are present, it is to a certain point historically accurate, as it should be. But if they make it plainly retelling history, then it doesn't differ in anyway from the history books. Let's be honest here, most people will get bored and not watch it if it lacks the court drama they're present for.
Besides they say it, they freaking say it at the end of EVERY episode

So please stop criticizing and let people watch the show in peace😫
What do you fellow fan think of this?
One last thing, why do so many people not watch period dramas? They're awesome. So comment if you do please, and we can become best history friends.
Yes, I have no life... I know...
... And I'm proud😄
