The silence was deafening. Jayde leant against the doorway in Madison's apartment, the werewolf staring at blank space and the two Winchester boys sitting next to her, asking her questions about what happened. Jayde was of course sympathetic for Madison, yet she couldn't keep her eyes off of Dean's silver loaded gun sitting on the table.
"I don't remember anything." Madison had finally managed to say something, her voice weighed by guilt. "I probably killed someone last night." Didn't I?" She turned to Sam, whose face wore a similar expression to her's. He gulped, trying to avoid looking her in the eyes, Dean seeing the struggle in his brother's expression. Jayde had to look away for a minute, trying to compose herself. This was not the time for an emotional breakdown, nor an anxiety attack, no nothing. The issue of her scars was out of her mind, something that she hadn't been able to ignore for quite some time. That was proof of how serious the situation was.
"There's no way to know yet." Dean's tone was soft but sincere, feeling the dense emotion in the room that everyone else was burdening.
"Is there something else we can try, to make it go away?" Madison looked with apprehension to Jayde over Dean's shoulder, but Jayde couldn't look her in the eyes, not when she knew what the only other solution was. She stared at Sam, Madison noticing and breathing a sharp intake of air; fear.
"We'll find something, I mean there's gotta be an answer, somewhere." Sam was drawing at any straws he could grab.
"That's not entirely true. Madison, you deserve to know." Jayde couldn't help but speak up, even though she knew Sam would retaliate. But he didn't. He looked at his younger sister, waiting for her to continue. Dean saved Jayde the absolute torture by taking it upon himself to be the bearer of the worst news imaginable.
"We've scoured every source. There's just no cure." Madison was in pure disbelief, staring at Dean for a moment and hoping to God he was wrong. "Is- is he right?" Madison once again turned to Sam who couldn't even look her in the eyes. He stood up and turned away completely, leaving Dean and Madison to look at each other with pure dread. Jayde caught Sam's eye for just a moment, but such a moment showed her that he was about to break. He had worn a similar expression one night, after a particularly bad fight with their father. It was in the weeks leading up to his departure, the look on his face was put on when he caught glimpse of Jayde in Dean's arms, trying to block out the screaming. She had never seen him look so lost, so bad.
"I mean, we could lock you up at night," Dean had torn Jayde from reminiscence and back to the even harsher reality being faced. "But you'd bust out, and some night you will... someone else dies." Madison eyes began to fill with tears, Jayde's eyes trying to do the same. She had managed to hold back on the emotions however, feeling that if she showed deep remorse for Madison, it would make things even harder.
"I'm sorry. I really am." Jayde whispered, trying not to choke. She and Madison both sighed, controlling each other in their simultaneous breath. Jayde looked back to look Madison in the eyes, her tears about to flow freely.
"So, I guess that's all there is to it then."
Sam turned around, his expression painful to look at. "Stop it. Don't talk like that."
"Sam, I don't wanna hurt anyone else. I don't wanna hurt you." She picked up Dean's gun from the table and walked over to Sam, her tears dripping down her cheeks.
"Put that down."
"I can't do it myself." Jayde couldn't help but admire Madison's strength in saying that, her acceptance of her fate. Jayde knew she wouldn't have gone down that easily, fighting through it and doing anything to find a cure. "I need you to help me."
