Jayde took a gulp of air and sat up, feeling cold dread flow throughout her. Was there such thing as immediate anxiety attacks? She closed her eyes and enclosed herself in a ball, trying to breathe and steady her irregular breathing. After a moment or two she managed to look up to see an unfamiliar room, one tinged in light blue walls and white furniture. The bed she was sitting on was lined with a white duvet, her own clothes had changed to a grey shirt and pink leggings. Everything was very strange, moonlight peeking in from the open window shone down upon the room, minor decorations making Jayde guess it was a young girl's, somebody not so far from her own age. But the question stood; what the hell was she doing here?
She felt for the phone that should've been in her pocket, instead finding it on the pristine clean bedside table. She searched through for Dean's contact number, confused when she couldn't find it. Shrugging, Jayde simply typed it in and waited for him to pick up, several rings passing until the line clicked into connection.
"Dean?"
"Jayde? The hell are you doing up so late?" His voice was groggy, as if the call had just woken him up.
"Dean, where you just asleep? What happened to that kidnapping you were meant to investigate?"
"What? Kidnapping? Jayde, are you feeling alright?"
"What? I'm fine! Well, I'm not fine, I just woke up in this random bedroom in this house and the djinn is just gone and-"
"Gin? Have you been drinking?!" Dean sounded extremely shocked and concerned, but Jayde simply ignored his odd behaviour for a moment.
"Not gin! Djinn! Like a genie? What the hell happened?" Dean's tired laugh echoed through the line, Jayde know mixed with both confusion and fury.
"Look kid, get some sleep, we'll talk about this tomorrow, OK? I know you shouldn't be drinking, but if you're having trouble keeping it down, come talk to me. Sam's not going to be very helpful. Bye." Jayde could only stare in shock at her phone, the echoing sound of an empty connection filling the room. Thinking that Dean had maybe gotten drunk, she tried calling Sam, but he didn't even pick up.
Jayde had sat for a minute, all the possibilities of her current situation running through her head. It must've been the djinn, but what had it done to her? Hallucinations? This certainly didn't seem like her deepest desire, her biggest dream; why would she want to be away from her two brothers?
She stood up, now calmed down and collected. The hardwood floor was cold under her bare feet, but she adjusted quite quickly after being used to Concord's freezing temperatures. Grabbing a dark hoodie from the doorknob, Jayde left the room to step out in a seemingly familiar hallway, a feeling reminiscent to Deja vu. She drifted down the staircase, looking for something that could tell her where she was. She eyed a picture of- was that Sam? He looked so different, the smile in the photo one that was worn more often than the solemn stature he usually bore. Dean's picture was very close, his mischievous grin with more meaning of joy than ever. Suddenly, Jayde noticed her own picture, one recent enough to know she didn't take it. Her smile was bright, the same expression she had when her brothers shared a joke or story.
She ignored the thought of why such photos were there, despite the fact that she already had several theories developed. She hit the bottom floor and approached a dining table, one that Jayde had definitely seen before. She picked up a pile of envelopes, eyeing her own name on one of them. The letter read an address, supposedly the house she was in.
"Lawrence, Kansas." Jayde muttered under her breath, slowly putting some puzzle pieces together. It was impossible, it couldn't be...
"Honey? What's going on?" A sweet and calm voice echoed through the room, Jayde stuck, unmoving in sheer surprise and false hope. She felt an arm on her shoulder and turned, unable to contain an audible sigh. She was looking at the woman who she never got to meet, who she was never supposed to meet. Her mother.
