Tuesday

Lunch. I need lunch. I think to myself as I make my way through the halls to the cafeteria.

This morning I had slept through my alarm because I had spent the night before choreographing the cheer routine for Friday, which is coming up quickly.

Sleeping through my alarm meant that I had no time for breakfast which means, I'm just about starving right now.

"Liberty. Liberty!"

I hear my name being shouted from somewhere behind me but my stomach's call is even louder. I really need some food.

"Liberty! Hold up!"

A panting Rhett comes up next to me, causing me to stop out of curiosity.

"Rhett, whats wrong?" I ask as he tries to catch his breath.

Standing up right, he takes a deep breath, "I tried to find you this morning to give you your coffee but --"

"You didn't find me because I arrived here late and barely in time to slide into class." I finish for him.

"Exactly! So, I had to drink your coffee!" He exclaims.

I laugh and turn away from him, continuing my walk to the cafeteria, "But did you die?"

He runs to catch up, "I might have! I don't know how you drink that stuff!"

Shoving the door to the cafeteria open, I shake my head at him, "I seriously doubt you could die from drinking a perfectly healthy iced latte."

"You know what, I'm too hungry to argue about this." He walks past me and gets in line for food.

"For once, I agree with you." I nod, getting in line behind him.

The line moves quickly since we are some of the first to actually get in line and soon I have two slices of pizza and my curly fries.

Rhett and I head to our table to wait for the rest of the group.

"So did Cash and Sterling tell you about coming to my house later today?" I ask him, taking a bite of my pizza.

He nods, swallowing, "Yeah, they told me yesterday and I'll be able to go for a little but I'll have to leave early. I have -- family coming over." He pauses, glancing up towards the ceiling, "Yeah, that's today."

"What's today?" Sue Ellen asks as she sits down with Frankie in tow.

"You all are welcome to come to my house at like 5. We just got our boat delivered yesterday so we can go out on the lake and then have dinner and hang out." I respond.

"And to celebrate the fact that y'all are looking at the new cheer coach." Sterling adds as he and Cash take a seat, one on each side of me.

The girls gasp.

"Shut up!" Sue Ellen squeals.

"That's awesome!" Frankie claps.

"The new what?" Rhett asks, his mouth full of fries.

"Cheer coach. You know, the girls that wave pompoms and cheer on the football team." Frankie sarcastically answers.

"I know what the cheer team is." Rhett retorts.

"Then why did you ask?" Frankie counters.

"I didn't ask! I asked --"

"Anyways!" I cut off Rhett before this could go any further. "Can you come over?"
