(Hope you "enjoy" this chapter. It'll get sad, I'm sorry!!! But you get to hear about Riley's past. So... yeah. Happy reading!
Oh and btw, this'll be a longer chapter so I can fit lots of information and details in.)

Beck's POV

Ever since last night when Riley finally answered and told me he's gonna tell me how he became mute today.. I've been so nervous and scared and worried. Not for me, but for him. He's never had to tell anyone what happened. Well besides family maybe.

I'm about to leave to go pick him up, but I feel like I should bring some stuff or plan something to make him feel better? I don't know. I was thinking of packing like a picnic lunch/breakfast type thing and bringing a blanket to lay down on in like a park. But that sounds too much like a date.. so.

After like 5 more minutes of thinking, I decided to just bring some simple snacks and drinks because I don't know where we're going or how long we're staying.

B- I'm about to head over.

R- Okay, I'm ready. Just text me when you're outside.

B- K :)

I left like 10 minutes after that, and it took me about 20 minutes to get to his house.

He opened the door, and once he got in signed "Hi" with a nervous smile on his face.

I genuinely smiled and signed "Hi" back.

'Where do you want to go?'

'Do you have gps?'

'Yeah.' And I got up the gps on my car.

He typed in a location an hour or so away, I smiled at him and signed okay and backed out of his driveway.

The drive was silent, obviously, but I felt the vibrations of Riley listening to a song on the radio. The thing that really gets to me about being deaf is that I can't talk to anyone while I'm driving or while they're driving. It sucks.

Once we got to the place, I looked over at Riley and gave him a questioning look. We were at an old cabin, it looked to be abandoned for years. It's a normal log cabin, the yard is really big, maybe 3 or 4 acres of just grass all around it and a long driveway leading up to the front porch.

I started to drive up closer when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I slowed down to a stop and looked over to Riley. He looked scared.

'Let's stop here and walk up.'

'Okay'

I parked the car and grabbed the keys and we both proceeded to get out. As we met in front of the car and slowly started walking up the driveway, I noticed that he looked petrified. So I slowly got closer to him and put an arm around his shoulder. He looked up at me, confused at first but then I felt him relax a little. He looked back at the cabin, let out a breath, and started to walk a little faster.

I don't know why he's so scared of this place, but it has to have a spot in how he became Mute. Otherwise we probably wouldn't be here and he wouldn't be as scared.

Once we got up to the door, I removed my arm from around his shoulder so I could speak.

'Do you want to go in?'

He looked at me, to the front door of the cabin, then back at me. He hesitated and breathed out deeply before signing, 'Yes.'

I started to reach for the door knob of the front door, but was stopped by a hand on my shoulder.

I turned to him and gave him a concerned look, 'Are you alright?'

He nodded and hesitated, before signing, 'Could..' he paused for a minute, 'Could you put your arm back around me?'
