Running my hands along the side of Aroura's neck I gazed at the small silver marks on her scales, evidence of the torture she had gone through with Toban. Just at the thought of what she had gone through, I felt the anger start to surge through me. I knew it wasn't just my anger that I was feeling but it was also hers. She had gone through so much torture because of me.
Closing my eyes, I swallowed the lump the started to form in my throat. I would get Toban back for everything he did to my family. Pushing the anger away, I started about my work. I wanted to make sure Aurora's health was back to its best. If we needed to go to war I needed to make sure I could count on her.
Grabbing one of the clothes near a small bucket, I made sure the water was warm before drenching the cloth. Gently rubbing the side of her neck, I heard a low content grumble form in her throat.
A dragon could get used to this.
Laughing, I started on cleaning her face. I was happy that she was in good mind, but yet even with the small laugh that escaped her, I still felt uneasy. "We will get him back for this." I murmured. I would make sure he paid for what he did to her, and to my mother.
Nodding her head, I watched her eyes close. I know what William did, Abagail.
Ignoring her, I got up to start work on her wings. They seemed to be in good condition compared to the rest of her body. I couldn't help but feel Toban wanted us to get away. There was no marks, and no sign of any poison touching her wings. Inspecting the webbing between her talons, I took not at how sharp they were.
There is another in your heart, I can sense it. Placing her head against mine, I felt her breath tickle my face. Although it was calming, I still felt on edge.
"What do you know about the red moon?" I had to ignore her question. I couldn't relive what had happened between William and me. I liked William that I knew, but I was still uncertain. She was right though, I did have someone else in my heart.
Taking my hint, Aurora straightened her body slightly. There is a lot to know, my Rider.
Taking a seat in front of her, I waited for her to continue.
Exhaling through her noes she continued. Before the time of the dragons, a very powerful Elf had started using dark magic. Back then, using dark magic wasn't frowned upon like it is now. It was a way of contacting the dead, and many humans sort help from the Elf.
Lowering her head slightly, I watched her eyes glare down into mine as if she was angry at me.
When the other elves realised that the she wasn't just using the dark magic to help humans but for her own gain, they locked her away. Angered by her own blood for locking her away, she created the red moon to give her endless power. What she didn't know, was the red moon could only last for one night.
Upon that night, she broke out of her cell and killed anyone who stood in her way.
Taking a deep breath I looked at the ground. Toban would do the same thing, but I couldn't picture Anna wanting to kill her own family. Remembering William's words about his father's head on display, I felt bile rise in my throat.
"How did they stop her?" I questioned.
Raising her head higher, I watched as something crossed over her face.
That's when the gods sent down the first founder dragons. They trapped her and killed her, along with the help of an elf. They had hoped that the red moon would be no more, but sadly they were wrong. The red moon stayed, and with it its power. The only way to get rid of the red moon, was to create the Great Book. Only the energy of a pure one could get rid of the red moon for good.
