With the red moon now at its peak, the power it gave off sent chills down my body. Every night I was having these strange dreams of standing beside William, before shoving a knife into his chest. It felt real and I could still remember the warm liquid of his blood sliding down my fingers. I wasn't sure if these were a prediction of what was to come, or my mind just playing tricks on me.
Every day that went by, the chills in my body would increase. I'd often find myself at the training room chanting things I didn't even know or heard of before. I remember three days ago, I was aiming at a small target when I started chanting. When my finger released the string and the arrow hit the target, the whole thing exploded. The force was so great, I was thrown onto the ground with a few guards rushing in with their weapons drawn.
Since then, I haven't practiced. I've been too afraid someone from the Elf court would see it and report me. The last thing I needed was these people not trusting me. I knew the King was on my side, but by how much was still uncertain. There were still moments in meetings I would catch him frowning at me as if he was waiting for me to act up.
Although I too was worried, the King seemed loyal to William and even offered to give up some of his own specially trained warriors to help us. I guess he was afraid that we wouldn't be able to make it with what men we had. And he was right. Although we did have a lot of men, it was nothing to what Anna would've raised in rogues. A lot of time had passed and I was sure she had heaps of Rogues protecting every corner of the Kingdom.
As I gazed at the map sprawled out on the table in front of me, I watched as William moved markers around. He was trying to find the best spot to watch the Kingdom. With only a few days until we headed out to the compound, we needed to make sure every single detail was perfect.
Talios had suggested we head to the north side of the castle but from there I knew the trees would cover our view. We needed something that would still hide us, but give us the best view.
"Knights edge," I whispered.
"What?" William snapped.
Frowning I looked up at him. His forehead was furrowed as he looked at me with a frown. "Knights edge would be a perfect place to go."
"And why do you suggest that 'las? It's right across from the kingdom." Spoke Talios.
"Which makes it's the best spot." I said.
Sighing, William scratched his forehead. "Explain."
Standing, I pointed to the location on the map. "Here is the village of night's edge, and here is the forest. Just beyond these trees is a small clearing where you get the best view of the castle. The forest will be able to hide us. It's always dark in there so no one will be able to see us. Besides, if they see a fire, they will only think it's the remaining people there. Not us."
Nodding his head, I watched as he mulled over my words. He seemed to be considering it. "She's right." Gazing at the map, William stood tall. "I remember seeing it when we left after bringing aid to the town. It would be the perfect spot to watch the castle's activities."
Smiling up at him, I gave a small nod.
After it was decided that we were to head back to my home village, I headed straight to where Aurora was being kept. Due to how the elves saw her, Aurora was kept in her own special section of the cave. There, she was guarded by elves who would stop anyone who wished to enter.
As I rounded the corner to where she would be waiting, I noticed the elves weren't there, in fact, no one was. Frowning, I slowly reached down towards the blade on my hip. Unclipping the sheath, I pulled the blade out slightly as I got closer to the entrance.
