I immediately jump up and cover Jonah. He seems to be just breathing, and one side of his face has visible injuries.

It might just be shock. And I can't hear anything. I can see other small bombs going off in the distance, far away enough to leave me, but my ears aren't responding back.

It's just shock

I see that I've got a couple of deep cuts and sore skin, but I stay shielding Jonah for a long time. Just holding his hand and waiting for it all to be over, for someone to come rescue us.

There's a few people like me, who I can see shielding people, or crying.

But the majority have left running.

Eventually, I see a familiar face turn and a flash of red hair. " SCARLET!" I scream, at least I think I did.

I see some others follow her as she checks Jonah and I for any major injuries. The world around me starts fading once I feel someone picking me up

The blinding light from the window hits my eyes as I blink, taking in my surroundings. I'm in my room, and I see Scarlet looking over me.

" What the hell happened?" I ask, and I can actually hear myself.
" Well, one of the gangs there tried to kill everyone, they didn't succeed, but they did kill a large amount of people, you've been out for the night, and I think your hearing is fine now," She says, smiling towards the end.

" And Jonah?"
" He's still unconscious, but he should be fine, he hasn't broken anything," She then smiles a bit more.
" What?" I ask.
" It's weird hearing you call him Jonah, he doesn't really let us call him that unless you're like Zach or Jason, really close to him," She shrugs.
" Probably just because I live with him though, being around him 24/7 and calling him boss would be annoying,"
" True,"

I get out of bed, trying not to put pressure on my arm, which had a large burn across it, so the skin was raw, and hurting quite a lot.

I head towards Jonah's room, only to see Valentina sat next to him, playing with her toys. " Hey Val," I smile softly.
" Quinn! What happened to Jonah?" She asks, turning her head to him.
" Bad guys tried to kill him," I say.
" Why?" She grins.

Oh no.

" Because they're mean,"
" Why?"
" Because I said so,"
" Why?"
" Because I have a mouth,"
" Why?"
" Because god decided to give me one,"
" Why?"
" Because life," I finish.

" Well that was entertaining," I hear a voice behind me say.

Valentina and I turn our heads and find Jonah smirking, his head and back resting against the headboard of the bed.

" Yay you didn't get taken by evil aliens!" Valentina laughs, as Jonah and I look at each other quizzically.

" Heh, yeah," He says.
" Valentina, why don't you let Jonah rest for a bit," I tell her, hushing her out of the room.
" You might as well tell me to get out, I'm not stupid," She says while rolling her eyes and walking out of the room.

" So..." I say, turning to Jonah.
" So..." He replies back.
" Thanks,"
" For what?"
" What you did, I didn't think you would push me off a bomb I was standing on, and then get hit yourself, like what?!" I say, emphasising every word.
" Just because I come across as cold, doesn't mean I won't save you Kitten," He shrugs.

Try not to blush.
Try!

Ugh.

Luckily, Jonah turned away to take a sip of water.

" You wanna know a fact about me?" He asks, putting the cup back on the table.
" Sure,"
" I like cacti," He just blurts out.
" What?! Never struck you as someone to ' follow trends'," I laugh.
" Well, cacti are like me, prickly on the outside, and on the inside, it's...good, like the delight you see when you find water in the middle of the desert, you just have to gain my trust enough to get to it," He shrugs.

Trust.

I forget that I'm lying to his face. I need to tell him. He needs to know. I don't care anymore.

" Jonah I.." I say before getting interrupted.
" I need to go and work all this out, I'll talk to you later?" He says, before shakily getting up and walking out, slightly limping.
" Are you sure you're okay?"

" I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me," He smirks, before shutting the door.

This guy.

I walk out and find Jason and Zach talking. " Ah yeah, Scarlet, she's hot, never managed to be with her," Zach says.
" Yeah, but that's for the better," Jason almost growls.

Huh

" Look, you and Scarlet broke up ages ago, she should be free to be with any guy," Zach replies, patting Jason on the shoulder.

Before Jason explodes, I walk in and make sure they know I'm here by putting forward heavier steps.

" So...what are you guys doing?" I ask.
" Nothing, but why don't we go out and do something," Zach winks, before laughing at himself. " Calm down I'm joking," He says as I start to turn red.

" Why don't we go and actually do something fun, like an arcade?" Jason suggests.

Zach and I give each other a look of approval.

And next thing you know we're headed to some arcade that Zach says is amazing. " Jonah will probably kill us for taking you out, especially since it's..us...but I'm sure we'll survive somehow," Jason laughs.

I take out my phone.

50 missed calls and 200 messages?!

Most of them went along the lines of this:

• Hey Kitten, where are you?
• Okay have you been kidnapped or something?
• Kitten I'm starting to get worried now.
• Okay I'm tracking your phone.

I quickly reply and say I'm with Jason and Zach, and he immediately replies that he's coming wherever we are too.

" Guys, it looks like Jack Frost is coming to ruin the party," I laugh.
" Ughhh why did you tell him?!" Zach says.

At that moment I see a black Lamborghini pull up behind us as we park in the arcade.

Fun Fact: I had 4 chapters ready.

And then they all went away.

Like why?

Why me?

I'll try and publish another one but yeah
